tanks engage a custodian

Family Patrol Tanks fight a custodian. Pitched combat between lizards and custodians is uncommon, occuring when custodians' instructions are particularly strict or the lizards are particularly stubborn. The goal isn't to destroy the custodian, only threaten it enough that it retreats.

Federal City (very WIP)

A look at the capitol city of the Federation. Not the biggest city in the heartland, but one of the most influential: the Capital is where the Federal Family formed and where it stil resides. The Federal Compound-- an enormous, multi-tiered tower-- sits at its center. The Federal Tower is supposed to look like a bunch of Family Towers Mashed together, because this is, more or less, what the Federa...

Recent Inactivity (read me)

Hi all,Making the periodic "man, I'm really sorry I've been so inactive lately" post. I've been deep in the coronavirus depression hole, I've been busy with commissions and non-art responsibilities, and I'm preparing for my fall semester to begin (woo residential school during a global pandemic).I have a big backlog of doodles which I will post over the next few days, h...

captain DawnThey are.. a Nameless pirate captain who camps out one of the Stone Forest trade routesi wanna say their Family collapsed RIGHT after they had come of age, and they were never able to get Family membership againleading to disenfrachisment and a general resentment of Family culture... which is very much the heartland pirate stereotype

Take a Hike!

An artificer hiking to a ruin in the mountains. There are closer and easier pickings, but this dude was in the mood for a walk.

surgeon Pye (and cowboy)

Surgeon Pye and cowboy dude. While every family offers care, some specialize in surgery and advanced medical procedures. Pye is one of these kinds of practitioners.

Origin of the Ceramic Desert/Crater Wastes

Patreon question for... someone. I don't remember who and seem to have lost the message. Sorry about that! The crater wastes/ceramic desert are the barren, irradiated eastern region of The Shell. This area, once a dense knot of factories and industrial infrastructure, was the site of the first management engine tests. It was a disaster (in the most tropey and predictable way possible), and the f...

political map of The Shell, collapse era

A map of The Shell post-collapse "years of broken eggs" The North pushes down, absorbing the upper tip of the Heartland, and coalescing into several "temple states." The middle heartland sees the worst of the fighting, and eventually settles on a status quo of a bunch of little, independant city states. Many cities in the middle heartland have their hatcheries smashed and are destr...

political map of The Shell, federal era

A map of The "present day" Shell.West "unaligned" is Family settlers, pirates, and small, independant communities. Sparsely populated, and, thanks to the pirates, light federal presense. East "unaligned" is the Republic Valley. It's more rural and agragrian than anywhere else in The Shell, and culturally distinct from the Heartland, the North, or Duhr. However, they&#39...

the walls of Duhr

A Duhr lizard watch the battle rage.composition for dramatic effect, no way they'd be standing outside of the walls like that.

airshapes

The shape profiles of The Shell's main "factions."Duhr's ships are chonky, slow, and heavily armored. Federal Ships are sleek, tapered, and competent. Northern ships are rounded and inspired by the ruins. Fast.

lizard walk

was playing with clip studio paint's animation tools and... hark! a lizard walketh.

northerners

lizards from the temple-cities to the North of the Heartland.

the unbuilt capitol ship of the Federal Fleet

built to crack Duhr's walls, the federation fell apart before it could be built.

Duhr

City of walls and debt.Unwilling member of the heartland Federation, they pay nominal taxes in exchange for being left alone. They barely try hide their efforts to support sepratists and sow political discontent, but their ancient walls, massive guns, and battery of shield generators make them too much of a PITA to confront directly.

Crew of the creeping moss

The crew of the Creeping Moss, a small airship operated by Family Deatat. Hotha: quiet for a lizard. distant and can seem cold if you don't know them well. Knows more about guns and how to use them than the vast majority of Family lizards. keeps in contact with pirates to learn the latest about federal arms technologyNetel: tiny bastard goblin/engineer with a heart of gold.Mata: wanted to be a...

OLD map 2

For Nari (:An experimental revamp of Outsider's Sky (still done way before I started working on The Shell) that never actually happened.

OLD map 1

For Nari (:The map to my older worldbuilding project, Outsider's Sky. You'll notice lots of stuff that carries over to The Shell. I lifted names from this older map, and both worlds have anthromoprhic lizards, ancient ruins, airships, etc etc. They're definitely different projects though, just an earlier take on similar ideas.

OLD isometric experiment

For Nari (:An old map, excavated from my archives. This was an early style experiment-- I was thinking about using this bright, lined style for a larger map of The Shell, but never actually did.

little doodle of a lizard singing lyrics from Pathetic by Blame Candy... which is presently stuck in my head.
