Devil May Cry

http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/devil-may-cry/Starting up a new article series with the coverage of the Devil May Cry games, the first of which set down the template for dozens of games to come.

Grand Pigeon's Duty

A ridiculous modern indie update to the old computer "classic" Potty Pigeon.

Join the HG101 gang as they discuss and rank the Nethack of Fantasy 4X games and cower in fear of giant stone age elk.

Cadillacs & Dinosaurs

Another one of Capcom's licensed brawlers that hasn't been ported elsewhere, this one doesn't quite live up to Alien vs. Predator, and the IP is considerably more obscure...but it's still pretty good.

Alien vs. Predator (Arcade)

http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/alien-vs-predator-capcom/Capcom's best beat-em-up, unfortunately never ported due to its license (though it is coming to that odd logo-shaped joystick/console thing later this year, somehow, so let's hope it ends up appearing somewhere else too).

Eco Fighters

http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/eco-fighters/A mid-90s environmentally themed arcade shoot-em-up from Capcom that was meant to use the same analog knob as Forgotten Worlds, but ended up being stuck with much clumsier controls.

Orion Burger

http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/orion-burger/One of those obscure mid-90s adventure games that came out as the genre was fizzling out, but actually had some decent writing and production values behind it.

Legend of Makai

http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/legend-of-makai/This fairly obscure arcade game is basically a Japanese developer trying to do Wizards and Warriors.

Knightmare / Majou Densetsu

http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/knightmare-majou-densetsu/http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/knightmare-ii-the-maze-of-galious/http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/shalom/A loose trilogy of mythologically-themed games from Konami, some starring the knight Popolon. The original game was featured a long while back as part of our old Konami shooters article (and also in that book) while the other two were...

Fantasy

http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/fantasy/Save your girlfriend from a series of ridiculously escalating scenarios in this early title from SNK. It's on the SNK Anniversary Collection, which is where I discovered it, and is probably one of the most interesting titles on the collection, outside of their more well-known "loop lever" run-and-guns.

Phantasy Star Gaiden / Adventure

http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/phantasy-star-gaiden/http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/phantasy-star-adventure/Two Phantasy Star spin-offs for the Game Gear, both only released in Japan. The adventure game isn't bad, but the RPG barely has anything to do with the core games.
