Hello my loyal fans and creators.
Obviously this has been a rather strange and unsettling last 24 hours for many of us. First we heard on Thursday that Onlyfans was doing away with all explicit content, then early Friday we heard that wasn’t true, or perhaps only applied to their upcoming iPhone and Android app. Now other screenshots have come out saying that the explicit content ban does apply to the main OF site.
I haven’t received any emails from OF personally, but be that as it may, there is still a decent amount of uncertainty about this. The bottom line is that Onlyfans knows that we creators are their lifeblood. If there are no creators there are no fans and no money and then no website. The powers at OF are balancing this reality with their want to attract outside investors to grow the platform to compete with the likes of Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. They’ve seen Snapchat grow from a platform that started with teens and YA sharing nudes into a global behemoth. They want the same for OF. Their problem is that investment firms don’t want to be associated with explicit content, and OF cannot release an app on Google Play or iOS that contains explicit content.
Clearly, Onlyfans is at a crossroads. They are trying to figure out how much they need to squeeze their loyal and dedicated creators while satisfying their potential new investors. It’s a difficult balancing act.
In my experience, companies that are recapitalized by investment banks become downsized, and the people that survive the early purge have to work harder, as the primary objective of any investment bank is to improve profitability of their portfolio, often at any cost. The company I worked at years ago, I was there for three years prior to it being taken over by an investment bank. In the next six months, loyal employees were mistreated, managers became more cutthroat in their dealings, and the health and safety of those in the facility were put at risk numerous times. I eventually saw the writing on the wall and walked away.
My hope is that I won’t have to do that here, that Onlyfans won’t become the latest example of a company succumbing to corporate greed and leaving their most loyal and productive people unable to succeed. Like I wrote to my buyers this morning, I’m strong, and I’m going to stick it out. I’ve built great relationships with my buyers and my biggest creator friends, a group I refer to as my League of Besties. I love all of you.
We don’t know yet what the new OF will look like come October and beyond…but I’m going to stand with all of you and keep making great content and bring joy and happiness to those close to me. Let’s stand together and support each other. Let’s show the powers of OF that we are an unbreakable community…one they cannot bear to throw into the abyss.
