The first rays of morning light slipped through the curtains, casting long shadows across the room. I stretched lazily, my body still tingling from the heat we’d shared, my skin warm against his. He chuckled, the sound sending a warm ripple through me. “I think the world can wait a little longer.” He leaned in, his lips brushing mine in a kiss that was slow, unhurried, like we had all the time in the world.
I let out a soft sigh as his hand slid down my back, pulling me closer. “What are your plans for the rest of Christmas?” he murmured against my lips.
I pulled back just enough to meet his gaze, my fingers tracing lazy circles on his chest. “That depends. Are you planning on sneaking back up the chimney, or…” I let the sentence hang, teasing.
“Not a chance,” he said with a grin, rolling us so he hovered over me, his body radiating heat. “You think I’d leave my favorite gift behind?”
I laughed softly, running my hands through his hair. “You’re smooth for a man who showed up uninvited.”
“Am I?” he asked, dipping his head to kiss the sensitive spot just below my ear, his voice a low whisper. “Or did you secretly hope I’d find my way here?”
I couldn’t argue—not when every inch of me felt alive under his touch, every nerve attuned to him. “Maybe,” I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper. “But you’re staying now, right?”
“For as long as you’ll have me,” he promised, his lips trailing along my collarbone, igniting a fresh wave of heat between us.
As the morning unfolded, we stayed there by the fire, wrapped in each other, lost in the magic of Christmas morning. The presents under the tree remained untouched, forgotten in the glow of what we’d discovered together.
For the first time in years, I realized I didn’t need anything else this Christmas. The tree, the lights, the snow outside—it all paled in comparison to the warmth and passion we shared.
This was the kind of gift that came once in a lifetime, and I planned to savor every second of it.
