[Background Blog] Astatos Chapter II Progress
🕑 Added 2022-08-09 13:59:01 +0000 UTCHey Patrons, today we wanted to make an update blog about some of the progress that's been going into the upcoming Chapter II of Astatos.
While it's taken longer than expected to catch up with the engineering work on A.I. opponent's and Story Trials, we've been making a lot of progress writing and creating artwork for the next story content for Astatos.
- Over 30k words written. (~60%)
- 7 new characters with new sprites.
- 5 out of about 11 background illustrations.
- 9 new music tracks.
While we still have a lot of work to go, we wanted to thank you for your support so far. It'll be a few more game patches before players start to see the new content, but we hope you look forward to it.
Today we also wanted to go a little in-depth with one of the new characters appearing in Chapter II, Kyros!
While many of the characters up until this point haven't had that many things change form their original Hero Card designs, in the case of Kyros we wanted a pretty specific character in the context of the story.
Based on the character sketches, you can see that Mamaduo did propose a design that was similar to the original. For the scenario planning we wanted a character who didn't come across as obviously deceptive or secretive.
In the end we went with a design that was a hybrid of the two proposals and begun to work out the colour scheme.
With the floral elements in his design, we settled on a mix of pink and blue for the details, such as his cloak, and the eyes. His outfit is also black to fit in with the other nobles in the capital, Sator Fonsia.
Once painting was completed we started working on the various expressions and body poses.
And now Kyros is finished! You may even see a little of him in the game really soon too... 👀
