At first, the immigrants from the New Continent showed some resistance, but they quickly capitulated under Annie’s measures. Those who came with families were either registered and settled in Black Phoenix City or redistributed to other cities. For lone individuals, those with suitable strength and willingness were absorbed into the West Wind Knight Order. Those unwilling to serve the Mecklenburg Duchy were exiled to Cappadocia.
Annie had learned a few tricks from Charlot—she would never let these New Continent immigrants leave freely. If they did, they would inevitably regroup under the New Continent Council, continuing to oppose Charlot Mecklenburg.
As the vast wealth was transported ashore, even Duchess Mesu was stunned. These immigrants had brought all their assets from the New Continent. Almost every ship was laden with treasures. “This kind of life is worse than staying in the New Continent.”
Several other Saint-rank individuals revealed angry expressions but refrained from speaking due to Avish’s strength.
Mocher sighed deeply, saying, “What’s done is done. Why say more?”
The Saint who had spoken earlier raised his voice, “In truth, only Avish and Monteblanc wanted to divide up Charlot’s women. Mocher, you didn’t share their ambitions, nor did we. Why don’t we surrender to Charlot?”
“After all, Monteblanc is already dead.”
Avish snorted coldly, reaching out to strike, but the Saint who had spoken was prepared and dodged behind Mocher. Mocher extended his hands slightly, releasing a surge of battle energy to block Avish’s attack.
Without another word, Avish turned and left, with three Saint-rank individuals hesitating briefly before following him.
Mocher sighed again, opting not to pursue them. He whispered to the others, “Let’s proceed cautiously. I’ve heard this Mecklenburg Duke is fiercely loyal to his lovers. His fury in this battle makes that clear. He may not accept our surrender.”
“If things go poorly, I’ll summon an Evil God to ensure our escape.”
From afar, Charlot noticed that Avish had fled while most of the others stayed behind, leaving him puzzled. While he had pursued them, he had not planned for an immediate battle. Something about the Radiant Holy Kingdom ship seemed off, and he hadn’t dared to bring it along. With Emilia missing and only Cresto’s forces at his side, he didn’t have full confidence in defeating the remnants of the New Continent Council.
Charlot instructed his forces to spread out and encircle the remaining enemies. Then, he shouted, “Have you decided how you want to die?”
Mocher stepped forward a short distance and replied calmly, “Can we negotiate?”
