We can all make our own interpretations and that's part of the fun of media, but ultimately the writers themselves admitted they got butthurt people in forums guessed it was Jon who would kill the NK and so as a last minute decision made it Arya specifically to shock people. That is what disappoints people - it was meant to be Jon. Doesn't mean it's not a good scene though 😄

The show been foreshadowing that Arya would be the one to kill the night king. And I see why people would think it’s suppose to be Jon one of his purposes of being brought back was to reclaim winterfell. That’s the vision the red woman saw, and thought it was meant for Stannis. But we clearly see Jon was suppose to do it. And what was the result of that? It led Arya straight to winterfell where the long night would be. And also where that one guy who was brought back would save her so she could kill the night king. (Not to mention the long stare she gave Arya this episode and pep talk lol). My boy Sam ain’t have a weapon!!! Run pleaseee😂

To answer your question at the end: it was cool what Arya did and the move she used with her non dominant hand 🤣 the whole series built up that John is this promised prince who was meant to stop the Long Night and defeat the Night King and then to have this whole arc amount to him shouting at a dragon? It left people cold. Not saying how they did the fight was bad, it was just the pay off of the prophecy which the writers just forgot about or decided to ignore in favour of shock value. It's one thing to have plot twists but in storytelling you have set up and pay off. The book writer himself said if you leave clues for a particular outcome and then change your mind because people found the clues YOU left and talked about it on reddit ... why the fuck you leaving clues for in the first place??

No you thought they were building that up. You probably thought many things were going to happen differently. When have an opinion you will always at some point be dissatisfied when it doesn’t go your way. That’s been the issue. I never assumed Jon would do anything. He had many peaks and troughs there was never anything saying he would do any of that. His job was something else.

the issue is they spent 8 seasons building up john vs knight king and john got bitched. there was no reason for aria to kill him. we didnt even get a sword fight between knight king and john. it wasnt bad but u cant spend 8 seasons building up a fight then not even have it
