BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Several explosions engulfed the Raid Boss’s body. Hundreds of attacks rapidly depleted her large HP pool as her outer layer began cracking and falling apart quickly.
However, her Arachnoid Golems reached the group, devastating the formation they had created and pushing back the players one by one with powerful kicks and stomps from their enormous stone legs.
The spider golems’ eyes shone brightly, firing beams of azure and red, bombarding the players and sending dozens of them flying at a time.
“Watch out for the beams! Tanks, go! Skelethor, Mechanica, stay with me. We’re charging in and taking down as many as possible!”
Queenie wasn’t as cowardly when surrounded by her followers, and there was a good reason for that. Her two friends nodded, rushing to her side.
Skelethor’s towering figure, over two meters tall, rapidly cleaved through the giant golems. He leapt into the air, spinning downward with black lightning and phantasmal flames erupting from his axe.
“{Thunderous Charge}!”
CRAAASH! CRAAASH! CRAAASH!
The massive skeleton crushed a handful of golems on his own, charging through them with his powerful axe and robust physique. He was a rare player who chose an even rarer race: Skeleton, an Undead not well-received in any town. He had invested most of his growth in physical toughness and strength.
“Nicely done, Skelethor. You aren’t that slow anymore, huh?”
Mechanica giggled as she controlled her golem, which bombarded the enemy golems with cannons of concentrated heat energy and magic missiles while punching or kicking its way through. Goblins were usually neither particularly tough nor physically strong, but they had a great affinity for crafting tools and creating golems. This was why this player chose to build golems to fight for her.
Of course, this wasn’t common in Obscuritas. Most goblins in this army, part of Heracles’ Mercenary Brigade, lacked the budget to afford large artifacts and primarily crafted long-range weapons at most. These were also being used, as the Goblin Army stood alongside Queenie’s forces, offering support and bombarding the Raid Boss with cannonballs and massive explosive arrows from ballistae.
“Good, good, keep going!”
Queenie rushed forward, her aura erupting in a vibrant pink glow with countless hearts, which she crystallized and launched at the golems, exploding into pink flames.
“{Crystallized Heart Rain}!”
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Queenie’s offensive magic wasn’t weak either. Boosted by the presence of her followers, she could surpass her base stats and become even stronger than usual. With her help, her followers reached the Raid Boss, surrounding and attacking her.
Led by Mechanica and Skelethor, they struck the monster’s legs. The spider-like golem screamed, her large claws cleaving through players one by one, tearing them to shreds before their bodies dissipated into pixel-like particles.
As Players, they could act rashly and recklessly. Insecta and Heracles watched from afar as they commanded their armies, recognizing the great usefulness of Players. Their recklessness and immortality were incredible assets, but the downside was that it was nearly impossible to control or manipulate them, as they always had their own agendas.
The only way to enlist their help was by offering opportunities like this—an event where they could earn Raid Points, one of the rare occasions when Players would willingly unite to fight for the NPCs.
“SHRIEEEEEHHH!”
Arachnicidia didn’t take kindly to the recklessness and insolence of these ant-sized enemies. She began stomping the players one by one, her aura surging as blinding blue and purple light emanated from her crystals. Her true body beneath the rocky exterior started to become exposed.
“Queenie! She’s growing desperate! I think we’re about to trigger the second phase!” Mechanica said. She had been analyzing the battlefield using flying bird-like golem drones and had gathered valuable data. “When these Raid Bosses enter their second phase, they become much smaller and physically weaker, but they also become incredibly fast and can spam powerful magic! We need to pull our troops back, or we’ll lose all the players!”
“Gotcha!” Queenie nodded, raising her voice and using her microphone wand again to call everyone to retreat. “Everyone! Listen! We have to move back! Stay away from the Raid Boss now! It’s about to enter its second stage and will become super quick! Do as we planned! Tanks, stay behind! Everyone else, on standby!”
As she spoke, her followers roared, crushing golems in their path while running back. The tanks remained, bolstered by Queenie’s powers, which made them exceptionally tough. Most tanks here were Orcs, Trolls, or Werewolves—races with high Vitality, Natural Regeneration, and immense Strength due to their massive musculature.
“Do it for our Queenie, everyone!” Skelethor roared, pulling out his massive shield and standing in front of the other tanks.
“UOOOHHHHH! QUEENIE!”
Queenie’s fans screamed as their auras surged with power. The monstrous Raid Boss continued to be bombarded by Mechanica and the long-range attacks she led until her armor finally shattered.
Crack, crack…!
CRASH!
“GRYYAAAAHHH!”
The monstrous Arachnicidia roared furiously, her second stage beginning with a flash of blue and purple light from her crystalline body. As Mechanica had predicted, she had become much smaller, now no taller than ten meters, unlike her previous height of over thirty meters.
However, in exchange for this…
FLASH!
In a single split second, her body vanished, moving at lightning speed, and reappeared right in front of Skelethor and his army of tanks! He quickly raised his shield and unleashed his strongest defensive skill.
“{Abyssal Thunder Fortress}!”
The other tanks followed, activating their own defensive skills—most resembling barriers, massive shields, or buildings crafted from their own Auras. Through Queenie’s Aura of Love, they synchronized…
And merged!
Indeed.
This was Queenie’s trump card!
“{Lovely Bond Fusion}!”
