Woah I didn't know that. Somebody told me he loves that author's work but could not read this series..it all depends on the taste I guess

You probably didn't know that the show is based on 'A Song of Ice and Fire' book series (Which are better than the show, though I do love the show). George RR Martin, the author, used to write for TV shows, like The Twilight Zone, but he felt it was restrictive, so he thought he'd write his own book series, and make the story as gigantic as he liked with many different characters, locations, and storylines. So he wrote 'A Song of Ice and Fire,' 'A Game of Thrones' is the name of the first of currently 7 novels, at least two more are planned in the future.
