So pirate metal (yes, it is an actual thing) is an offshoot of power metal, the main difference is that they just sing about stuff dealing with pirates. As for good power metal bands, a new one I just recently got into is called beast in black, they have the 80s power metal vibe to them. And of course my favorite band Kamelot, they are power/symphonic metal. Check out blind and frozen from beast in black, and phantom divine for Kamelot
