“Aaron!” a familiar voice called out to him.

“You had an accident in the lab,” Justin explained. “Some of the radiation started leaking out of the container and we had to rush you to the hospital. But everything’s going to be alright. Right doc?”
A taller man in a long white lab coat was still looking over a clipboard. He wasn’t too old, looked like he’d been just out of medical school and finished his residency. There must have been some sort of mistake in how much of that radiation you’d taken in, because there’s almost none on you. At least not to the levels your coworker was saying.”
Aaron looked over his hands like he should have been able to see it. The memories flashed through him. Something about the case looked cracked. He remembered moving the radiation across the lab. And then it broke. It filled the room. The lights flashed wildly warning everyone to stay away. Then nothing.
“But it looks like everything is going to be okay,” Justin filled the silence.
“Right,” Aaron muttered. He was still concerned. What they were working with should have killed him. Even with the hazmat suits, that only mitigated the radiation still radiating from the equipment they were still using. He knew the dangers. And this wasn’t making much sense.
Justin gave him a firm slap to the back. “Just go with it!” he shouted at Aaron.
“Sir,” doctor Murphy scolded. “This is a hospital.”
“Okay. Okay,” he waved his hands defensively. “I get it. Besides, I need to get going anyways. I wish I could stay to see what happens, but boss man will be pissed if I don’t get back soon.” He strutted out of the hospital room.
The doctor shook his head. “That guy…” he groaned.
“A bit of a handful, eh?” Aaron smirked.
“A bit?” Doctor Murphy looked up from the clipboard with the same devious smirk. “I guess that’s a way to put it. But he didn’t want to leave your side almost the entire time you were here. Besides a few bathroom breaks, he was in that chair near the entire time.”
“Yeah?” Aaron’s heart rate started to go up a bit. “Probably cause he’s got a bit of a crush on me. I mean, it’s not all that hard to see but I don’t really know if he’s my type, ya know?”
“I guess,” the doctor replied. “Don’t know if I’ve got too many people who’d stay two nights with me that isn’t my mother.”

The doctor took notice. “Are you feeling alright?” he clicked his pen then set the clipboard back down on the bed.
“Yeah?”

It took everything Doctor Murphy had to move across the room. He felt like he could breathe again. “What the hell?” he asked the wall, but was fighting the temptation to look back at Aaron.
