He just wouldn’t stop complaining about how he did this all the time and that he’d be fine. But there was no way Vance was going to give him the satisfaction. During the night he’d found a way to sneak into the other guy’s pocket and then remove his keys to give to the bartender.
It wasn’t as hard as most nights as Trent was being overly affectionate towards him than usual. Even coming so close as to nearly kiss him on the lips. Not that Vance minded all that much. He’d spent years with the guy fantasizing just about that. Their high school football days had been hard but rooming in college was even harder. But once they graduated and moved on it got a little bit easier as he got married.
When he’d gotten the freshman 15 back in college that had seemed like a lot to them. Seeing the numbers shoot up from his normal 180’s closer to 200’s had gotten him to talk about going on a diet almost regularly. Thought his Friday, Saturday and Sunday drinking habit often kept that from really doing much for him. Nor did the weekday bar crawls do much either. The little bit of pudge around his abs had turned into a fully grown belly. And it only seemed to get bigger as the years went on. Then doubling up after the divorce.
All the while, Vance had taken those hints to go to the gym and make sure to keep his trimmer body. Of course abs were usually out of the question as he wasn't 20 anymore, but at least in his suits he could look professional and dignified. His shoulders filled his shirts well, while just a little bit of muscle in his pecs pushed the button down just right. Enough to be noticeable but not anything anyone would really comment on.
“Ya know,” Trent slurred as he tried to speak. “Ya really need ta getchyourself a girlfriend…” His body couldn’t seem to get comfortable as he laid across the couch. Part of him was always slightly off the couch but Vance didn’t have another bed in his apartment.
“We’ve been over this…”
“Boyfriend! Whatever, I don’t care who ya get inta yer pants. Jus wanna see you finally wit sumbody. K?”
Vance rolled his eyes, knowing the conversation he’d had with plenty of different people about that exact same thing. “I know… I know…” he agreed while grabbing his drunk friend a blanket. It was usually the easiest way to get them to get off the subject. No need for editorializing or fighting because that would just mean they would bring up things like Grindr or worse.
“Nah man, I’m serious!” somehow Trent’s overweight body snuck across the apartment allowing him access to Vance’s ear. “Listen. Even my kid is gettin worried. He’ll be off ta college soon and he said some weird shit recently. Pparently he’s thinkin you’ll neva end up with nobody…”
It took a lot for Vance not to say something he knew he would regret. If Trent’s 18 year old son was starting to say things, then that meant he was really starting to look desperate.
“You know he said something else really weird too. Says that we’d make a cute couple.”
“Does he now?” Vance was finally given an opportunity to respond to something that he didn’t feel like he would get angry over. It was of course a fantasy he’d had since he’d first met Trent but those feelings still lingered. “Don’t know how cute we’d be. You’re a bit too fat for me,” he joked.
“Fat? I’m just offseason,” Trent joked back. He threw up his arms for a mighty flex showing just how out of shape he really was. Though it didn’t feel like the way he normally did it. Something about the overly proud smirk was still throwing him off.
‘Maybe he’s just too drunk,’ Vance reasoned with himself. His eyes stayed trained on the other man. He couldn’t help but feel something was off. The way his shirt hugged against his barrel of a chest, or how his shoulders seemed to make it impossible for the top button to stay buttoned. Maybe it was the way his belly wasn’t quite pushing against the bottom of his shirt, or that he actually tucked it into his black pants. Something just seemed off. ‘Wasn’t he wearing jeans and a t shirt? Weren’t we just at a bar?’ The thought bombarded him as he thought about the fancy dinner his friend had just taken them on.
“C’mon man, you don’t have to look at me like that,” Trent’s lustful grin only widened. Just a few teeth were showing out of his mouth.
“I just…” it was getting harder for Vance to think. Something about something was bothering him. It was like he knew something was wrong but couldn’t quite fit the pieces together. He backed into the wall trying to focus.
“Woah there,” Trent caught him in his strong arms. Vance could feel the power beneath his skin. Those thick muscles easily held him up and tightly. All Vance could do was stare. Seeing his husband’s handsome face and that slightly crooked grin was too handsome. His square jaw and messed up hair that had clearly been styled before they left made him look like he could be in a movie. “You’re staring again…”
Vance let out a blush at the phrase. He didn’t know what he was doing. There were plenty of times that he’d imagined himself in a situation like this. Plenty of times he wished that he was where whatever girl Trent was banging at the time. Plenty of times he would imagine being with Trent. But now it felt real. He could feel the warmth of the other man’s body. Or to feel his strong calloused hands running up and down his arms.
“I think you’ve had too much to drink…”
But Vance’s hands were too distracted by the meaty pecs underneath Trent’s shirt. Despite the other man’s attempts to lead him to the bedroom, Vance took his chance to start unbuttoning the dark blue dress shirt he was wearing. “Doesn’t make me any less horny…” he was starting to get more and more playful, giving into this new reality. The denial between his friend being straight versus the desire to be with him were starting to blur.
That, and Trent was starting to look so much sexier again. His muscles lost the several extra pounds clinging onto them while his chest looked firm and defined even through the nice button up shirt. Even with the bit of belly he clearly could just go a few days on a meal plan to lose it again. All the while his pants always needed a belt to be able to find any that could comfortably fit around his legs. Trent cocked an eyebrow as a smile filled his face.
“Guess not,” his eyes narrowed as he honed in on his target. The room between them disappeared as he wrapped his strong arms around the other man. He held just a few inches away, almost to taunt Vance just a little bit more. Slowly he closed the tiny gap. Almost making Vance beg for it.
Vance couldn’t deny the effects of the Rosé starting to affect him. He almost felt like it was weird. That Trent was the one drowning his sorrows into the alcohol while he was trying to keep him safe. But now he was so drunk. And in the arms of his lover. The warm feeling of the wine pulsing through his veins, all the while his husband was taunting him more and more with just a simple kiss. His lips puckered, waiting for the final embrace.
Finally Trent closed the space between them. Their lips locked and tongues rolled around the other’s mouth. Vance could feel the passion in his embrace. Every which way Trent led Vance through the motion. Eventually leading him more and more towards the bedroom. His strong body easily guided Vance through the rooms and onto his bed. He whipped off his belt and let his pants fall down around his ankles.
“Wowee,” Vance grinned as he saw the bulge being held back by the jock strap.
“Don’t act like this is the first time you’ve seen it,” Trent whispered into his ear. He grinded against Vance’s body while he did his best to undo the other man’s pants. With just a bit of effort he could finally free those legs and lift them over his wide shoulders.

“Hunter?” Trent turned around to see his son staring at the two. He quickly tried to cover himself up but ended up nearly tripping in the process. “Shit! Hunter! Sorry!” he cursed while he was trying to get his pants over his thick legs.
But Hunter seemed to be too interested in whatever was on his phone. “I can’t believe it worked. It freaking worked. This is so crazy!” he muttered to himself. Then started walking away. “I’m going over to Zack’s! I’ll see you later!”
Trent was too busy messing with his clothes to realize what he’d said. “Zack’s?” Vance interrupted. “Isn’t that the guy who always bullied him?”
When Trent finally got his pants up he realized they were alone again, letting them fall back down to his ankles. “Yeah… Weird… Oh well. Guess we’ve got the night to ourselves. Know how you want to spend it?” he cuddled up next to Vance, wrapping his strong arms around him.
