The long halls of Frank’s house made Marcus a bit nervous. He’d never been inside something this large before. Each hall seemed to stretch longer than his entire house. “Well… It’s come to my attention that Derrick here has been keeping a few secrets from me about you’re current performance at work but now that some new things have come to light I need to know whether or not you deserve it.”
Marcus leaned back in his chair again. ‘What new things could he be talking about? And what would Derrick have kept from him?’ He never felt like he was a particularly amazing worker. He just went in, did the job and went home. Nothing that really drove him to do better. Sure he had ideas, who doesn’t, but he didn’t think it would lead to a promotion. “Ok. What would you like to know?” he said. The desperation for the promotion outweighed any fear he currently had. If he got it, life may be more bearable.
“All business when talking business,” Frank chuckled. “I like that. So let’s just start at the beginning. You started here at 16, right after you had your son. You had accidentally knocked up a girl at a party you weren’t supposed to be at but when finding out you decided you needed to take responsibility. Marcus nodded. “It’s come to my attention that Derrick hasn’t been giving you the full raises that you were originally promised and has instead been paying you a different way.”
“Huh?” Marcus didn’t know what Frank was talking about. He always thought he was getting the full amount.
“Do I have to say it,” Frank asked. There was a smile trying to creep out as he asked the question. It only lasted a second. “Fine. Derrick has recently brought to my attention that instead of fulfilling your raises he’s been sucking you off or allowing you to fuck him. He said it started when your baby momma left but I have a feeling it was before that…”
