He looked at the wrapping wondering who it was from. ‘No tag,’ he flipped the box over and then undid the wrapping paper. ‘Must be a late Christmas present though…’ He tore through the decorative paper and opened the box.
“What the Hell’s this?” he asked as he raised the weirdly shaped object. He ran his finger over the many different jewels encrusted on the side but didn’t know what the handle or spout was supposed to do. It had a lid but was far too small to be used as a kettle. “I don’t get it…” his hand brushed up against the side again, rubbing it. However, as more and more smoke filled the air it started to take a more defined shape. Allen was too distracted to notice the outline of the strong muscular man. It solidified more into a solid shape. “Greetings!” the man bellowed. His deep voice echoed off the walls of the kitchen. “I am the genie of the lamp. You are allowed three wishes.”
Allen jumped at the sudden sound. He didn’t know what was going on. He stared up at the large man floating just above his counter. “What?”
“Greetings! I am the genie of the lamp. You are allowed three wishes,” the genie repeated. “What is your first wish?”
Allen’s eyes went wide at the thought of wishing for something. He had no idea what he could possibly even want. Sure he was jealous of his dad and brother’s muscles but he could literally wish for anything. He already had more money than he knew what to do with. So that seemed off the table as well. “What are the rules?” Allen finally asked.
“Rules? There are no rules. I have no restrictions. However you are not allowed to tell anyone that you gained something from me. If you do, you lose whatever was gained and no one will believe you.”
“That seems simple enough,” however Allen still wasn’t sure what to wish for. He felt his phone vibrate and it was one of his friends from high school. ‘Will you open your door? It’s freezing out here! Plus one of Vince’s friends is out here too…’ it read. Allen hurried to the door and opened it. “Sorry…” he apologized to his friend.
“About time!” Brandon scolded. “It’s freezing!”
“I know. I know. I just got something in the mail and was looking at it,” Allen said. Vince’s friend Travis just pushed past the two and headed upstairs to Vince’s room. Allen never liked him much. “Very well master.” The genie snapped his fingers again and Allen headed back downstairs.
“There’s a present upstairs for you Brandon,” Allen said as he entered the room.
“Huh?” Brandon asked. However he didn’t disobey and headed upstairs to look for it.
“Alright,” Allen said. “Now I want to try something else…”
“Great…” Vince groaned. “You were born with all these powers and now you want to try them out?”
“Maybe I just thought about how fun it could be,” Allen grinned.
