[Monday] New Photo Set: Mika Lovely
🕑 Added 2015-09-14 17:33:14 +0000 UTCLast week, Mika Lovely was in town and made a stop by the house for a quick afternoon shoot.
I wasn't sure what we'd be shooting, so when Mika showed up with a suitcase full of latex, I had to come up with a quick lighting scheme that would work with the shiny material. Normally I don't shoot latex, its not really my flavor...so I had to hope that my lighting style would compliment the rubber.
This lighting style also incorporated the use of color gels over both the key and background lights. I've been wanting to experiment with color gels for awhile now, and this felt like a good place to start.
In the end, I still don't think I care much for latex but I think these photos came out pretty well despite it.
Technical info: The key is an Einstein head through a diffused beauty dish gelled with 4 different shades of blue. The background is an Acute ProFoto head with a basic reflector gelled with 4 shades of orange.

I love playing with the gels. It's a little more difficult because it's easy to stray into silly lighting, but done right, it can be lot of fun. Shot Meghan Chadeayne today with them and really dig the results.

Not a fan of latex myself either but I am loving the second outfit Mika is wearing. The pics are some of my favourite of yours I have seen. What did you think about the gels? I've still yet to play with my flash.
