No, you aren't dreaming, it really is the Patron Beta v0.9.3A release today, weee! Unfortunately, it's a bit of a mess since I'm working on 10 million things at once. On top of that, school and spring break have kept me from getting significant progress done (which I mentioned would probably happen at the beginning of the month), but although there isn't a lot of quantity, there is definitely a lot of quality, which is what matters most. By the time the Public Version is released all these things and more should be completed! The new Character Creator should be coming soon as well, hopefully by the next release! Fingers crossed! Anyway, not much else to say other than that---so let's get to the release!
Bug Fixes:
So there are a lot of small bug-fixes this time around. I also upgraded the game to the latest (and very experimental) Quest 5.7 --- which hasn't even been released to the rest of the public yet ^_~ I don't think you HAVE to upgrade to play the game, or the latest version, but if you don't it might cause some errors (although, this isn't confirmed). If you run across something weird, let me know about it but don't take too much stock in the bug. Anyway, I fixed the player.cursecount error, for example, when you wear the Ornate Bell Necklace, I fixed a couple errors with the boxes in the Storage Room that you deal with on your mini-quest from Rold and the subsequent return of the correct box, both of which appeared to be broken from the Duplication System. Resist was having some problems in the Western Bookcase transformations, so I tweaked the code slightly, we'll see if that works ^_^ Some coding errors in "The Edge" and it's descriptions have been fixed as well.
New Head and Torso Descriptions:
I've completely remastered the Head and Torso character descriptions, which now include every single Head and Torso transformation possible in the game (so far); human, elven, dwarven, dragon-descended, halfling, orc-descended, gnome, dark elf, goblin, high-demon, alaraune, demon, cow-taur, dryad, goo, naga, centaur, neko, wolf-taur, dragon, orc, doll and bee-taur. Bee-Taur antennae are included in "Horn" transformations as well. The player’s Name and current Status' have been rewritten as well. Cool, huh? Charm Skill descriptions have also been added to the player’s appearance too! On top of that piercings won't appear until you get them. The rest of the character descriptions haven't been touched yet though; hips, hands and feet etc. ***Note: the Thin White Shirt and the Cloak and Hood items do not have working wear descriptions***
3 More Pregnancy Turns:
Turn 980, Turn 985, and Turn 995 are completed. The scripts also change whether or not you've given birth before, and they play off one another. They also include lactation, and baby kicking. Altogether, these three turns turned out to be about 15k words! Whew! But hopefully that means you won't get the same message twice in the game whenever you're character gets pregnant (although that may depend on how often you get pregnant).
Whispering Wood/Chapter 2 Intro + Descriptions + Interactive Objects:
The opening scene of the Winding Wood room/Chapter 2, which takes place in the Whispering Thicket after your character passes out (from however you ended up at the bottom of the cliff) is finished. It takes into account all weather patterns and the time of day as well which changes how the scene unfolds a little. I also have the basic room description finished too and have begun to add interactive objects to the room to help prepare the player for their journey ahead. Right now, there are 11 Male and Female Zombies, each having a 50% chance to appear once your character wakes up. No worries though! These zombies cannot attack you. Some of them are already dead and are ready for Looting, while others are struggling on the brink of death, upon which your character can unleash the coup de grâce. After which, you can Loot them. Only the scripting for the dead Zombies is currently completely though (with a rough draft). Pillaging is also NOT set up yet in this room. But check it out and let me know what you think!
New Command; Rest:
I've added the Rest Command to help transition Night to Morning; although right now you can use it to transition between any time of day. It's full of placeholders too but it does currently work.
New Items:
I've added the new $15 Patron Item: WWW (Wingless World Warper; which allows you to fast travel without wings), the $20 Patron Item: PBB (Patron Bottomless Bag; which allows player to increase storage capacity at will) and the $30 Patron Item: SMB (Stat Manipulation Button; which allows player to increase and decrease their stats at will). The Wingless World Warper doesn't currently have a use yet as there are no travel points---but eventually there might be a few within the Whispering Thicket for you to "warp" to. Stay tuned!
COMING UP:
Rold Picture, New Character Creator, More Character Descriptions, More Cow-Taur, Entice Scripts, Quest System v1.5, Finished Winding Wood room, More Random Event Planning.
Next Release (Public): 17APR17
That's all for now! Enjoy the Beta! I'm anxious to see what you guys think!
