that's cool i like non humanoid races as well for how they work with other spells makes them just that bit more unique like Beast Sense getting cast on the stagfolk member by another party member

Older official D&D materials shied away from giving their OG rages different creature types to avoid game issues. Realistically that's not a big issue, and new races like plasmoid being ooze and thri kreen being monstrosities are being printed. It's never been a big deal, and we're finally seeing new books cater to it. I also just wanted a naturally magical beast race with no prior connection to the feywild. Not a huge fan of every race like that needing that connection is all

what was the reasoning behind choosing beast type instead of humanoid like tabaxi's and lizardfolk or fey like centaurs?

Yep! Haven't gotten around to finishing it though but making some homebrew for the series would be super fun lol
