Though I am in my 50s, I suffered an early vaccine injury that I remember vividly. I got the MMR shot, came home, went to my room, sat in my rocking chair and fell back into a tunnel in my mind, the world receding away from me. My arm swelled dramatically and when my mother called the doctor he told her I’d need another dose of the vaccine because the swelling indicated that it “didn’t take.” Thereafter I experienced various symptoms that today would be considered signs of autism. I largely recovered from the associated social anxiety and awkwardness in my 20s through a concerted effort of will. I still suffer executive dysfunction and a certain rigidity. While you can be open to people with no medical background linking vaccines to autism, I'll at least point to the resources where you can look at vaccinology and microbiology research. I'm glad Anna's child is fully vaccinated, it was safe to do that and prevents disease. Children's Hospital of Philidelphia, debunkthefunk (microbiologist), the college textbook Principles of Virology 5th ed, microbetv... please before you slide down the antivax rabbit hole, at least stop for a look at topics in microbiology at any of those. The Dunning Krueger effect is probably the most pronounced in microbiology and even the most basic collegiate reading could help you identify how scientifically poor this episode was and how thoroughly Mr. Lin's talking points have been debunked. Those talking points are so common because they sound reasonable at a glance, I've heard them all before. I don't blame people for succumbing, how many microbiologists or ID MD's do you personally know? How many can you name, past or present? How many peers would welcome you in your niche entertainment podsphere if you latch onto antivax? You don't have to agree with me, but at least know the opposing arguments. You might actually find how interesting vaccines are going back to Jenner's smallpox vaccine and how old antivax tropes are. Dr Offit, pediatrician and infectious disease MD (who rfkjr defamed on jre) has short videos regarding vaccine ingredients and common misconceptions, check out Beyond the Noise on YT. Of our pharmaceuticals, childhood vaccines are the most tested and tracked for safety signals and also not the profit centers for pharma.
