Not that you asked, but... a .556 cartridge uses a .22 caliber bullet (military/international version of a .223 round). Correct to say that at that distance it is a very accurate and deadly cartridge. From what I've seen reported, the bullet itself was 55 grain full metal jacket. This isn't a highly frangible round, and it particularly disappointing to hear the head of the FBI introduce a shrapnel theory in a government hearing when a. there was nothing in the line of sight that could have caused that, b. we have a photo of the intact bullet whizzing past Trump's head, and c. shrapnel would have come at an angle to his head and been evident in the wound.
