I think the "good first date" thing means different things to different people. Stacking events (activities, drinks, shows, dinners, etc.) is seen as way too try-hard for a first date. Have heard this a number of times from attractive female coworkers (in LA). Simple stuff like a drink or coffee, etc. is preferred so you don't have to be trapped in a bad date, and I tend to agree. Might be different for industry types though....

Surrogacy is a gigantic legal gray area, so I can understand why that guy might be hesitant to have his husband's ex be the child's mother. If he's in the wrong state, it'd be nearly impossible for him to see the child if his worst fears materialized, and his husband decided to leave him for the mother. I guess the compromise would be to allow the ex to be the surrogate, but to use your sperm.

Dating in LA is nearly impossible. I'm white and have dated two Indian guys. But, across the board, I do hear it's not as easy for you. Try the League dating app, if you have not. Might find people in a demographic who are interested in your career stability, etc, or less likely to write off Indian guys. And...in LA you really have to know the right restaurants, make an effort on a first date, etc, or else you have too much competition. Imho. You will have trouble getting first dates no matter what your race unless you are confidently asking women out and planning good first dates. That is my advice.
