I am such a big Norm fan that when he died more people texted me about it than when my dad or brother died. Like everyone that I knew, were aware of how much I loved the guy and when they heard the news the first thought they had was to check on me to see how I was doing. Not to wax poetic, but I think the thing for me with Norm was that he was either incapable or unwilling to “turn it off”. So many comedy greats just end up losing their way. Carlin, Cosby, Chapelle, Williams, even Pryor ended up all preachy, they quit commenting on life and started trying to fix it. Guys like Seinfeld, Murphy, and now Burr become more interested is making shows and movies happen. Norm was just in it for the bit, the laugh, and to hang out with other comics. He generally seemed confused when they tried to make shows work around him, but took the money with the caveat that it would fail because it's not what he wanted to do. Anyways, I guess it should be no surprise to me that the ladies were Norm fans, but it was very heartwarming to hear the kind words, and the expression of what a loss it is. So thanks for that.
