So the bottleneck for these kinds of interactions is actually the AI. By default, NPCs will not speak more than 3 chains of pure NPC chats to prevent them from talking forever and eating your voice tokens. This limit resets whenever you the user chats with them.
From here on out it was as simple as asking the NPC to talk about literally anything. Sometimes they bring up things about objects they saw recently, and other times they just ask for a joke (though this gets old and I need to tweak it). But in general there are now tools for randomizing the face, hair, and make up. This will give the random NPCs you find in the world personality.
Map Work
This will actually be the KARNAK factory which will include the long awaited Robot Head isles. This is actually a Kickstarter goal for backers that donated to the game's Steam release. Basically there will be HUNDREDS of robot heads each loaded with a prompt made by 1 Kickstarter backer. You can then plug them in to see what they say. More on this next week.
