Hazel Sprite Redesign v4

I am excited to reveal Hazel's official new sprite redesign!
When we asked for feedback, a big piece we got was Hazel's outdated sprite. So we went about fixing that! We switched up his look to fit the style/theme of the newer characters. With the different style, Hazel lost some of his exaggerated hair floor, but we made sure to extra fluff it when he put his hat on.
We tried to keep the essence of the boy we've all come to know and love while also realigning him to the current standard.
A big reason this came about was this scene in v0.11.2 (spoilers for those who haven't gotten there yet)
Hazel here looks pretty out of place, doesn't he?
Now he looks like he belongs!!!
We also added 3 new emotions to Hazel's arsenal! They won't be in older content right away, but as the game continues, I'll likely go back and add these new expressions in. You'll see these in future episodes.
In conclusion, I'm personally really excited to have these new sprites in the game. For a while now, I've known this needed to be done. I just didn't know when was the best time, and finally decided to do it once a lot of you agreed.
And for those of you who are sad that Hazel's sprite is changing, I completely understand.
Just know that this isn't the first time... or even the second...
Hazel has had a couple of sprite changes in his career!
HOPEFULLY, this is the last time. I'm really happy with this one, so if we can continue through the rest of the game with him, I'll be a happy camper.
Now, what is next?
We are going to focus on finishing Episode 5, aka v0.11.
Kokman is getting back to working on this new character sprite and then onto the lewd scene.
We also have the new gallery almost done! So, I'm excited to share that soon.
But as a warning, Kokman and I want to update Jeze's sprite and probably Mr Noto's as well.
We want to try to create as much cohesion and consistency as possible. Jeze's sprite, compared to everyone else, now has odd proportions that looked fine next to Hazel since they were done around the same time. But now, with everyone else, it is becoming more apparent.
This isn't an immediate problem to solve. We want to finish v0.11 first and then worry about Jeze later. Just know that we have it on our docket.

I got super sick again last week, hence the little communication.
I already have all of the new Hazel sprites in the game, and it looks fantastic.
Soon, I will show everyone the new gallery system!

We are going to take another pass at Hazel's new design to try to align it with his appearance in the lewd scenes... also making him tanner again.

We're actually redoing it to keep the new body but porting some of the old expressions and revamping ones we aren't 100% happy with, but keeping that face style ;)

The only thing i would like to say is that i understand that the redesign is needed because of the Body but i would like to ask if you can lean the face more on that of v3 not exacly i know it doesnt fit but a little bit in the direction (more rounded)

I'm glad to see that he fits in now. Really hope that you make the sprites available in the art folder, because I'm currently working on a small project, and would love to use the sprites as placeholder. I want to focus on my writing, and in the future I will get to the art part, and eventually to the coding part. I've been photoshopping Robbie to get some of his expressions and it's Abit janky but it turned out find. After being sucked into hazelnut latte because of the riveting romance between Issac and hazel, I really wanted to write a story of my own that can capture the same feeling I felt when I first played through the game. I've been really enjoying the process of learning how to write, and as hard as it's been, I feel very happy because of it and it's all thanks to you. For the pass couple of years, after highschool I've been really struggling with what I want to do with my life, and couldn't find anything to give me purpose until I stubble upon hazelnut. The feelings I felt playing through the story of Issac and hazel inspired me to create my own project. There's still alot more to do but I've never been happier than now, writing a contemporary romance. Finally I've found something that has given me purpose. I'm really excited to see where hazelnut will go, because it will always have a special place in my heart, and I want to see it succeed. Sorry for the exposition dump, I just really wanted to say thank you to you rad. Much love <3
