I think there is a catch: Evan drinks the potion and turns invisible to such an extent that Ansel can’t even feel his own magic; therefore, Evan can get close but has continues to have difficulty talking with Ansel (being close to Ansel like this even if invisible would help Evan with the magic addiction symptoms.)

I am mostly happy to see them together and just a liiiiittle annoyed that Ansel is smiling instead of say... apologizing on bended knee for acting like a complete idiot. But I’m a patient woman. I can wait.
