Perched atop a rolling hill in the heart of a rugged frontier, this small western church stands as a beacon of faith—and a magnet for whispers of unease. On clear nights, townsfolk speak of shadowy figures glimpsed beyond the graves, and strange sounds from within the church itself. Rumors swirl about secret rituals, buried pasts, and a preacher who knows more than he says. As tensions rise, the line between salvation and doom thins in this remote, dust-blown chapel.
A quaint wooden church crowned with a modest steeple, its siding sun-bleached but cared for. Within, worn pews line up before a humble stage crowned with a podium, while a hidden door behind leads to the preacher’s cramped yet tidy living quarters. Outside, a small graveyard of weathered headstones stands sentinel over the hill, a few marked by freshly turned earth. Beside it, a rickety water windmill groans softly as the wind tugs at its rusted blades, ever-watchful of the land it oversees.
Notes:
Environmental Hazards: Uneven wooden floorboards in the church crack underfoot, threatening to give way; low-hanging beams and tattered drapery snag weapons or obscure vision; the graveyard’s loose soil can bog down heavy footfalls, and the water windmill’s rotted supports could collapse under weight.

Encounter: During a funeral service or a midnight vigil, a corpse stirs within its grave—calling the faithful to panic and forcing the party into action. The preacher’s voice trembles as he pleads for them to “put it back down before it’s too late.”
Tactical Feature: The elevated stage inside the church offers high ground, while pews provide partial cover; narrow aisles limit movement, creating choke points; outside, gravestones and the water windmill create natural obstacles for flanking or ambushes; a hidden trapdoor behind the stage could lead to a secret underground chamber or escape route.
Optional Twist: The fresh graves hint at more than natural deaths—perhaps they conceal bodies of missing townsfolk or evidence of a cursed ritual gone awry.
