Nightmare Kart dev update 2024/5/14 (Spoilers!)
🕑 Added 2024-05-15 02:09:28 +0000 UTCWorking on the intro cutscene for the Shadows of Yharnam redesign for today's Nightmare Kart dev post, featuring voice work by the very talented Tasch Ritter!
The Shadows of Yharnam had no introduction in Bloodborne Kart, as the fan game assumed familiarity with the original game so it was expected that the player already knew about them. That no longer works now that the Bloodborne IP has been removed, meaning that the Shadows of Yharnam redesigns, the Matilda Sisters, needed a new intro.
I am extremely limited in what I can change as I effectively need to write a new story on the fly with an existing level structure that can't be changed, but I'm satisfied with what I was able to come up with, turning them into guides to show the player how to get to the next level in exchange for a race, all while hyping up another character reveal. Not a lot of plot relevance but it works.
The animation itself is still in a very unfinished state but I'm happy with what I came up with. Wanted to push the redesign as far away from the Shadows as possible, so I decided to do the whole 'forest witch' vibe. Again, Tasch Ritter did an amazing job with the VO!
