This is the 3rd time I have watched this series and did not originally like SF9’s performance. I can see why they were ranked higher although I don’t agree with 1st. Unfortunately for some of the groups it came down to how much did they actually sing and perform more than the “no limit” props/guests they used in their performance, SKZ performed, i.e., sang, danced, rapped and acted out their scenes. SF9 sang, danced and embodied the sexy characters they were trying to portray.

This!!! I didn’t think another ranking would piss me off more than that one episode but this one had me yelling. I love Ateez so much! They came form a small company like Bts did so they’ve hard similar struggles but internationallly is where they have the most love and fanbase I was so proud watching this whole competition of them and stray kids. During kingdom they didn’t have as big of a fan base as Stray kids did in Korea. 2023 was really their best year for internationally and in Korea. You definitely need to get into ateez they’re are just as sus as strakids if not a bit worse 😂 but they are so amazing and they way they care for each other and fans is so beautiful. I wish mingi was apart of kingdom but he needed his time on hiatus.

Ateez is a group that is still establishing themselves in Korea. They've always had a huge fanbase internationally that just keeps getting bigger. However, they've just started gaining massive popularity in Korea after dropping the song Bouncy. What makes people like Ateez so much is their uniqueness as 4th generation idols, and they are still highly respected by their fellow peers and younger groups. Also, they're known as a group sort of like BTS, where they've built up their company's small and humble beginnings. Their company has grown so much due to Ateez.

I am a STAY but I love Ateez too. For me these two groups show so much uniqueness. They are incredibly talented , their live performances are crazy good and their personalities are humble, funny, caring and extremely professional. As of the beginning of 2022, they gained a lot of popularity in Korea with the concerts they gave and the music they released, especially after the Guerilla Music video and their 2022 world tour, they attracted a lot of attention, the Bouncy Music video also became quite popular in Korea, and of course, the dance challenges they did with other artists had a great impact. The whole industry almost did the bouncy dance challenge. It is obvious from the reactions of people at 2023 MMA how much the song is loved. 😅

I 100% agree with you! I’m Stay first and foremost in this conversation haha Our boys built themselves up with their talent and in spite of their company at times. I just meant that they didn’t build their company up in the way that Ateez did to explain why when Ateez started out they weren’t as widely known pre-debut/early years. There’s a whole conversation to be had regarding JYP in general (both the company and the person), but it can’t be denied that day one Skz had more exposure than day one Ateez just due to JYP having more reach in terms of actual company connections and money. I’m not putting the groups themselves against each other at all and I love them both (and as I said I’m more involved in the world of skz anyway) I was just trying to give some background because Nigel had asked if Ateez were a big group during this and that answer at that time had to do with exposure, which luckily Kingdom was able to give to everybody who participated! Sorry if it sounded like I was undermining what Stray Kids have accomplished! I have nothing but respect for them and their journey.

Also one of the things I think people don’t realize is that the part that really got Ateez was the self-evaluation. Their score didn’t change when they were added which means none of their peers voted for them so the feeling that this was their weakest performance wasn’t just the expert judges… And I’m pretty sure all the groups voted for SF9.

A lot of this has to do with them being from a smaller company. (For context since I know you’re more aware of BTS’s journey: Similar to BTS, they’ve kind of built their company with their achievements. If BigHit is what it is now because of BTS, Ateez would be that to their company KQ—only they’re still a little earlier on in their journey especially during this show so they didn’t have the backing or big company name appeal of a group like Stray Kids who are from JYP for that initial exposure. *Edit to add: This in no way is meant to undermine skz or any groups who do come from bigger companies, I just mean it as part of why groups from smaller companies sometimes take longer to gain traction.) — Ateez were also the newest group on the show so everybody was their sunbae (senior) in the industry. Since Kingdom they’ve gained a lot of popularity, though! — As a side note, the hourglass you’re seeing (called the Chromer) and a bunch of imagery you’ve commented on throughout their performances all relates back to the story they’ve developed and the multiverse in it. There's nothing wrong with featuring other artists, but for these competitions, I wanted to see IKON and ATEEZ bring it all to the stage with more of THEIR talents, not someone else's. I believe that took away from their performances. Just my opinion. For ATEEZ, while La Poem was performing, Jong Ho was walking up stairs and there was such a gap in which the group could have done more. I think that hurt them. They're such an amazing performing group, if they stuck to that till the end, I believe they would have been in the top 3.

honestly what are these "experts" voting on exactly? it feels more like they cast their votes based on personal preference rather than technique/arrangement/choreography/... if that was the case why even get experts in the first place? i really enjoyed sf9's performance but it just did not have the level of execution that skz did. and although this ateez performance wasn't my personal favourite of them, it should have still ranked in the top 4. i'm a strong believer that art is subjective and all but it is clear to see that there is a certain agenda the show is pushing that just does not do certain performances and certain groups justice.

I actually think this was the first week I agreed with the results. SF9’s performance was so different and artistic, I was genuinely in awe when I first watched it and I had never even heard of SF9 before watching kingdom. SKZ is my ult group and this was one of their best performances so only a performance like move could have bumped them out of first for me. I think Answer was good, but it was my least favorite Ateez performance. It kind of felt all over the place imo. BTOB was amazing and this was their best performance hands down. I would listen to an argument to move The Boyz down since I agree that it wasn’t a stand out performance, but I think the quality of their choreography gives them a slight edge over iKon and Ateez for me. It’s always so interesting to see how different people’s reactions to these performances can be especially since every group is insanely talented and is putting out top notch work.

In my opinion I think Ikon and Ateez being 5 and 6th place is fine cuz they both brought in other people to SING/rap for them when every other group relied on themselves. Yes BTOB brought in the G Idle chick but only to dance and they've made it clear they're really just here to experience new things anyway. Now sf9 beating Stray Kids is crazy but i don't think their performance was as "just ok" as you were saying I think it just aint do it for you and the Ateez performance aint do it for me. When you were praising it so much I was just like eh it was ok not their best one this show.

For me, Stray Kids' performance was def #1 for me. ATEEZ was really good, but at times, the performance didn't hit for me. I love Answer as a song, but I actually didn't like LA POEM's feature at the end. I thought it was unneeded because ATEEZ could have added more of THEM instead. Jong Ho's high note was also super expected and it felt overused at this point in the competition, but that's not his fault. My ranking: SKZ, SF9, BTOB, ATEEZ, TBZ, IKON. None of the performances were bad though.

I would have put Ateeze in 2nd place in this round mainly because, first I just enjoyed stray kids performance more and second even though I thought the opera singers went really well with their performance I would have gone with stray kids because it was all them. I feel the same way about Ikon having Lisa in their performance. I realize it was no limits but I think the actual performance should have been just the group. But that's all me, I'm not saying I'm right that's just my opinion.

I wouldn’t necessarily say no one because the rest of the groups are very much known! However I honestly think that if straykids were not in the show it wouldn’t have been as known. my thoughts on the judging for all of kingdom is that the judges could only vote for their top 2(? 3? i dont remember) and so i feel like skz, ateez, and the boyz were fighting for votes more than the other teams every week because they had similar concepts. btob performed well each round and were unique, which is why i think they held onto their middle position pretty consistently, and the same happened with sf9 this ep. I really like their performance, but even if you dont think its the best performance, it was def a standout performance bc it was so different from the rest and made you remember it.

Some voting context for the day of voting. The judges can only vote for their top 2. The groups can only vote for their top 2. So… that’s not a lot of votes. So like… if the groups all voted for SF9 because they loved the performance, and only 4 groups voted for Skz, that’s a big difference. But it’s their personal preference. In fact, my top two performances were Stray Kids and SF9 for this. With Btob as a close 3rd. 🤷‍♀️

Hi Nigel, since you asked, as an Atiny, I will talk about Ateez, as you can see from the number of votes and views, they are not as big as stray kids, but they are very hardworking and passionate, I don't even know how to explain this to you. They come from a small company, just like BTS's early days, and with that they had to struggle with all the difficulties an consequenses. I'm sure fans of every group say the same thing, but as an Army and Atiny, I say that they have the best performances you'll ever see on stage. They have their own style of Music , their stage is not just about performance, you feel like you are watching a theatre, they are working so hard, they are a group that has managed to gain recognition and title despite the successful groups of successful companies in this period, and as Psy said, they will be the group of the future and I believe this too, just like what BTS achieved by working hard despite all the successful groups when they were new to the Kpop world. That's why their story is so similar to BTS and that's why I feel more connected to them

About ateez’s popularity they are definitely one of the more known 4th gen boy groups I think their fanbase is a bit smaller compared to stays but not much, they do a lot of international promotional stuff and so from what I’ve seen they aren’t really that big in Korea but outside of Korea they’re extremely loved
