Build 0.2.6 The Realm of The Faerie Queen
🕑 Added 2022-07-15 19:17:43 +0000 UTCAt long last it is here! The final piece of Chapter Two, at least for now. Face off against the Prince one last time and witness the conclusion to this chapter.
It's been quite a journey and not everything could make it in but now we can take a step back and evaluate what to tackle next. If you've been playing along with each new build, this one may seem a bit short but I hope it will be satisfying nonetheless. (And please, do not let hero sleep alone, I spend a lot of time on animations).
As always let me know if you encounter any bugs while playing and feel free to give any feedback you may have!
Changelog:
- Final zone of Chapter 2, a place of mystery and magic
- New bonding and romance scene for Ash
- New bonding and romance scene for Lyric
- Lyric now uses bows instead of swords
- Lyric will receive a class upgrade in the future, for now partially implemented
If you want the opportunity to do Ash's second bonding scene make sure you viewed the first one at the end of Chapter 1 (Hero's bedroom).
Save files from 0.2.3 should still be good but if your game won't load it's recommended to start a new one.

Note: I include Mac and Linux versions but I cannot test or offer technical support for these versions or even confirm whether or not they still work.
Keyboard & Mouse Controls:
- Left click to break items
- Right click to interact
- A,D or Arrow keys to move left and right
- Space for Jump
- Left Shift for Special Action(ie "Crouching" used with monster forms)
- Left Ctrl for Dash
- Q for character screen (Class, Equipment)
- V for transform Menu
- E for item quick menu (outside battle)
- ESC for game options menu
- F4 Skip scene, can skip through dialogue and scenes (It's a little buggy)
Controller can be used but it might be a little buggy right now (The selection cursor may disappear, use the mouse to select something again) See the input tab when you run the game for more options

Did you arrive at the camp during nighttime? There's a bug and that shouldn't happen, you'll have to go back to hero's bed I think to switch to daytime. This will be fixed in the next version

I'm new to the game, and I'm enjoying it so far. But is there a discord channel, or maybe a guide/FAQ somewhere? I'm completely stuck at the camp in the second area. I can't proceed without the captain's permission, and can't go into the tent to get it. I must be missing something, but I've tried interacting with everything I see.

Well when I finished with Dungeon 1, I decided to go alone on my house, Ash join me and I was the top. Then I defeat the prince in the dungeon 2 and when I'm at the fae realm, I go up to Ash and this scene is like the first time... Did I do something wrong ?

No, it should be a different scene for the second time. Did you do the bedroom scene after the faerie realm one? That probably isn't updated in the save file and that option will be removed soon.

This update was cool, new scene, lyric improvment, more story. I'm so excited for chapter 3! I do have a question, when we go to Ash after bonding with him in chapter 1 in your bed, is it normal that in the fae realm, we get the exact same scene?

It is very likely, just didn't seem fair to give him a second scene when other characters are still waiting for their first turn.

Not currently. I'll probably try to have multiple save file support in for the next update but maybe for now I can share a save file at the faerie realm campfire.

Ahh yeah I found lyric is there any other way to see the scene with Ash or will I have to restart it?

Gonna hop on. I could find Lyric but couldn't find Ash. I had done the first encounter with Ash in chapter 1 (I F4'd there so I might have gotten some bug there, dunno). Turned Beastform to try and sniff Ash out in the new area, but Beastform's sniff didn't work there. Went to both extremes (West and East) but couldn't find Ash in my run.

In the new area, when the party is split up, are you unable to find Ash? Are you able to find Lyric? You are only able to choose one or the other to spend the night with, this is probably not clear.

I'm a little stumped too. Tried the most obvious in the new area, but nothing seemed to trigger for me. I might have missed it or messed up earlier in the first bond encounter.

Thanks for the update! I really liked the new scenes that got inserted including in Chapter 1. Glad to see Lukka's first bonding scene now plays out (in 0.2.5 it just blacked out and forced me to exit to Desktop). I liked the change to Lyric's class, it helped make his character more unique. There's some quality of life suggestions I'd like to make too. It's not very clear what any of the attacks, skill, magic, or items do. Would it be doable to either have a menu where you could check this, or that hovering above them with a cursor would give a description? The same goes for status effects. I have some more spoiler-y suggestions I'll drop on Pastebin: https://pastebin.com/hE9ZWh3K Oh, I've noticed the cutscenes bug out a bit when using the Dash.

Just a mechanical spoiler, you can jump (SPACE BAR) and while hovering use the CROUCH (RIGHT SHIFT) to slip back up the grates.

Short update: In my desperation to leave the grate, I left the dungeon and teleported back to town. When I went back inside the dungeon, I had lost my slimeform :-( (Did not break the story moving forward though)

Heya! Thanks for the new chapter! I started a new game as I hadn't played in a while and there are some things in Chapter 1 that I would like to provide feedback on: - An explanation window what each item does would be marvelous! - Same goes for the attacks in the menu (e.g. when you can play with Ash) - A hint on how to get back up from the grates after you attained slimeform would be nice. Getting down was easy enough, but I've since been trying to get up again ^^" Otherwise I'm still in love with your game! Thanks for developing it!
