If a broomstick could somehow reach Mach 7 (about 5,370 mph or 8,650 km/h) and travel from Mount Greylock in Massachusetts to a cornfield in Iowa, the trip would be quite swift. The distance between Mount Greylock and a central point in Iowa is roughly 1,000 miles (1,600 km). At Mach 7, the trip would take approximately: Time=DistanceSpeedTime=SpeedDistance Time=1,000 miles5,370 mph≈0.19 hoursTime=5,370 mph1,000 miles≈0.19 hours This is roughly 11 minutes. Regarding radar detection, Mach 7 is within the realm of hypersonic speeds, which are detectable by certain advanced radar systems, especially if the object is large or has a significant radar cross-section. While a broomstick is quite small and might be challenging to detect due to its size and potential lack of reflective surfaces, any high-speed object traveling through the atmosphere would likely create a detectable signature. Military and advanced radar systems designed to track hypersonic objects could potentially detect such a fast-moving object, though standard civilian radar systems might struggle due to the object's size and speed.

This Harry really reminds me of Tony Stark. Flippant, irreverent, and willing to push the envelope.

I, for one, love Harrys characterization in this. People seem to have a weird zealous need to have a Harry who Kowtows to everyone. Its honestly disappointing.

Kurozake

Since he likes pushing limits, wouldn't a first date on the moon be kinda cool once he tries to get together with Dora? It always bothers me that even in HP fanfiction very few wizards seem to have any interest in space travel,

GhostnKC

Possibly a lack of charms that limit what a broom can do. Breaking the sound barrier is a lot like hitting a brick wall and for years it was considered impossible. If not for the shield and other charms it would be impossible for the human body to go that fast without being destroyed and/or burned up.

TommyTheStory

Love it! Think this may be my favorite HP story I have read. So much new stuff but still familiar, looking forward to read more good job 🙂

Romavictrix

Love the antics

ExodiaTheForbiddenOne

Orbital broom strike

Well this is a… polarizing personality for Harry. I’m hoping that this is just due to youth or being spoiled rather than being the characterization for Harry for the rest of the work. I can’t really see myself reading an entire work with the main character like this so I hope it’s just a faze. Despite this good work.

Aawen

The thing that I don’t get is why are his brooms so much faster? It’s not like he invented new enchantments or anything he just applied stuff out of a book. It always feels like a cheap way to make the MC seem smart when he is effortlessly way better than anyone else even on a niche subject which will have a lot of researchers who are specialised in broom making.

Nah, the British public want a boy knight instead they ought to get a dashing rogue with a touch of the wild west in him or the gentleman pirate. All greatness has a touch of insanity in it no need to knock it down pegs with silly things like reason and consequences. Hah.

Reiter

...why I have the feeling that a lot of the humble pie waiting for Harry will come in the form of several awful dates for Dora? x'D That aside, great chapter! The ego issue aside, I really like who this Harry is a whole lot more academic inclined, really feel like he's living up to the potential we saw in canon but he never really embraced~

Soulless Ginger3144

I’m hoping that he’ll mature as the story goes on. Right now, he’s acting like any other rich teenage douche, so I’m hoping he’ll do something that’ll give him a bit of a reality check.

GhostnKC

I'm starting to wonder how Harry is going to be knocked down a peg or 2. That being said Congrats to Harry for having the fastest broom currently in existence 😆

Captain Hair

Hit Voldemort with a broom going Mach 5

I suspect that somewhere along the way, something is going to happen to Harry to teach him some humility and make him better fit for his upcoming role.

*snicker* That was fun. I have to wonder if Lockheed is the only aircraft company with a magical division. I could easily see Northrop having one, too. First because Jack Northrop first worked for Lockheed, so he'd likely know about their magical division and secondly because Northrop Corporation hired and developed a lot of very talnted people.

Shawn.justshawn

This harry is giving off heavy 'Tony Stark before the cave' vibes. I love it! He's just pushing every barrier in existence and annoying the government while doing it.

Andrew Hatfield

Being completely honest, not really liking this Harry. "I'm easily bored and rich, with a godfather in the government, so I'm just gonna do whatever I want and let other people deal with the consequences. "
