Dangerous Games: Chapter 7

“Stop fidgeting,” Hermione said.
Harry tossed his shredded napkin on the table, sighed, and checked his watch for the fifth time in four minutes.
“Would you relax,” she hissed, buttering some toast and setting it on the empty plate in front of him.
“I’m nervous,” Harry said. “I’ve never been on a date before.”
“You took Cissy to the Yule Ball,” Hermione reminded him.
“Yeah, but I knew what I was supposed to be doing there,” he pointed out. “Everything was already planned.”
“Relax, Harry, I’m sure you’ll do fine.”
Sighing, Harry took a small bite of toast and then nearly jumped out of his skin when someone tapped on his shoulder. He whirled around and winced when he banged his knee on the bench he was sitting on.
“Sorry, Potter,” Cedric smiled. “Didn’t mean to startle you.”
“It’s fine,” he said, rubbing his knee.
“Listen, can I talk to you for a second,” Cedric said before glancing quickly at Hermione. “Privately.”
Harry quickly checked his watch.
“Er…”
“We have plenty of time, Harry,” Hermione said exasperatedly. “Go.”
“Alright,” Harry said.
Pushing himself to his feet, he followed Cedric out into the Entrance Hall. They paused next to the grand staircase and waited for a group of chattering first year Ravenclaws to pass by.
“I meant to ask you during the Ball, but your little stunt distracted me,” Cedric grinned. “Have you figured out the clue to your egg yet?”
“No,” Harry said, shaking his head. “It just screams when I open it.”
“Listen to it underwater,” Cedric said. “You can use the Prefects’ bath. Password’s pine fresh, but if you get caught in there, you didn’t hear it from me.”
Harry smiled and nodded.
“Thanks, Cedric.”
“Don’t mention it,” Cedric smiled, clapping him on the shoulder. “I owe you for warning me about the Dragon. Oh, and don’t stress about your date with Granger. Just be yourself, and I’m sure she’ll have a great time.”
“What?” Harry asked before realization dawned on him. “Oh, no. I’m not worried about Hermione. I’m taking Daphne Greengrass.”
“Really?” Cedric asked, surprised. “I was sure Granger would have been angling for Mrs. Potter.”
“Er, well, she is,” Harry said, causing Cedric to tilt his head curiously. “It’s complicated. I’m set to be the head of house Potter and Black. Technically, I don’t need to get married to take over house Black, but I’ll be the only one left, so if I want to keep the house from going extinct…”
Cedric whistled.
“Two wives and a mistress?” he asked incredulously. “Granger’s alright with that?”
“Yeah,” Harry shrugged.
“I don’t know whether I should be jealous or if I should pity you,” Cedric joked.
“Pity,” Harry said. “Definitely pity. I don’t have a clue what I’m doing.”
“None of us do,” Cedric grinned. “Look, I can’t give you much advice about wizarding houses. My parents never put much stock in that sort of thing, but I have a bit of experience dating. If you ever need some advice, or you just need to get away from the ladies for a bit, give me a shout.”
“Thanks, Cedric,” Harry said gratefully. “You got any advice for a first date with a girl I barely know?”
“Try to find something you have in common,” he replied. “Get her to start talking, and it’ll get easier from there. Forget about the whole marriage thing and just focus on enjoying your day with a pretty witch.”
“Right,” Harry nodded.
Smiling, Cedric clapped him hard on the shoulder.
“Relax, Potter. You’ve already landed two witches at once, which is leagues better than the rest of this lot can do. You must be doing something right.”
Harry relaxed and chuckled as he watched Cedric return to the Great Hall. Taking a deep breath, he rejoined Hermione at the Gryffindor table.
“What did Cedric want?” she asked curiously.
“He gave me a tip about the egg,” Harry said. “I have to listen to it underwater.”
“Really?” Hermione asked, furrowing her brow in thought.
“Yeah. He even gave me the password to the Prefects’ bath.”
“We need to listen to it soon,” Hermione said firmly. “You really need to start preparing for the Second Task. There’s only a little over a month left.”
Harry nodded and refrained from pointing out that that was plenty of time to prepare. The biggest challenge was figuring out the stupid egg, and now it looked like he had that handled. Scooping some scrambled eggs onto his plate, he picked at them for the next several minutes until Filch opened the doors to the main entrance and started taking permission slips. At a nudge from Hermione, he stood and made his way to the Entrance Hall where they waited off to the side.
Daphne arrived a couple of minutes later with her little sister, Astoria, and her best friend, Tracey Davis. After speaking to them briefly, they parted ways. Astoria and Tracey made their way over to Filch while Daphne walked up to Harry and Hermione.
“Ready to go?” she asked.
“Yeah,” Harry said, pushing his back off of the wall and joining the line. “Any idea where you want to go first?”
“Not really,” Daphne shrugged. “I’m not picky, but I do need to stop at Scrivenshaft’s to pick up some ink and parchment.”
“Sure.”
They quickly made it to the front of the line and handed their permission slips to Filch. Grumbling, he waved a Secrecy Sensor over the parchments before grudgingly handing them back and motioning for them towards the waiting carriages. They climbed inside, Harry sitting next to Daphne on one side while Hermione sat on the other, and it lurched into motion.
“How is your Charms project coming?” Hermione asked curiously.
“Good,” Daphne replied. “We settled on charming a self-cleaning rag.”
Hermione tilted her head to the side and furrowed her brow.
“As in a rag that cleans itself or a rag that cleans things for you?”
“Both,” Daphne smiled.
“Clever,” Hermione said. “Tracey and I are designing a self-serving tea set.”
“Don’t they sell those in Diagon Alley?” Harry asked.
“They do, but we’re making our own,” Hermione said.
The carriage trundled to a stop, and Harry helped the girls step down. As the carriage turned around and made its way back up to the castle, they started towards the village.
“So, er, what’s your favorite class?” Harry asked.
“Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts,” Daphne replied, then qualified, “When we have a decent teacher.”
“Me too,” Harry smiled. “I like classes where I get to use my wand, but Transfigurations has always given me trouble.”
“Transfigurations is all about visualization,” she told him. “My sister is really good at it.”
“What about you?” he asked.
She shrugged, “I get by, but I find it difficult at times.”
Harry and Daphne continued talking about classes and their professors as they followed Hermione through the village. They visited Honeydukes to load up on sweets, restocked on Potions ingredients at the Apothecary, and replenished their stationary supplies at Scrivenshaft’s. Eventually, they made their way to the Three Broomsticks to warm up and get something for lunch. As they took their seats, Harry listened attentively to Hermione and Daphne’s discussion about the Muggle world.
“So, what exactly is a telly?” Daphne asked. “How does it work?”
“It’s a lot like the wireless, but with an image and sound,” Hermione explained. “And a lot of it pre-recorded. You can watch movies and programs, which are like plays.”
“Doesn’t that get boring?” Daphne asked. “I’ve been to plays before, and they’re great, but I can’t imagine watching one every night.”
“Actually, it gets pretty addictive,” Hermione said.
“My cousin would sit and watch the telly for hours,” Harry added.
“What kind of – what did you call them? Programs? – What sort of programs do you watch?” Daphne asked.
“I didn’t watch much telly; I preferred books, but I used to watch a show called Doctor Who,” Hermione answered. “It’s about an alien that travels through space and time in a ship disguised as a police box.”
Daphne laughed, shook her head, and turned to Harry.
“What about you?”
“Er, I wasn’t allowed to watch the telly,” he said softly.
Daphne shared a look with Hermione that he couldn’t quite decipher, but he knew he didn’t like it.
“So,” Harry said, turning to Hermione, “have you and Cissy found a way to free the House Elves yet?”
Hermione huffed and folded her arms over her chest.
“No,” she pouted.
“You’re trying to free House Elves?” Daphne asked, cocking her head. “Why?”
“Because slavery’s wrong!” Hermione fumed. “They’re not animals! They have their own minds, their own culture. Don’t you think they should be able to live their lives however they want?”
“Honestly, I’ve never given it much thought,” Daphne admitted thoughtfully. “Our House Elves have always been happy. They never wanted to do anything other than serve our family.”
“Because they’ve never been given another option,” Hermione argued. “They might think differently if they could own their own homes or start their own businesses.”
“I suppose they might,” Daphne acknowledged with a nod before turning to Harry. “What do you think?”
“Er, well…,” he stammered, unprepared for the question. “I think they should be given the chance to be free, but I don’t think we should force it on them.”
“You sound like Narcissa,” Hermione grumbled.
“Well, it’ll be kind of hard to convince people to free the House Elves if they’re actively fighting against you,” Harry pointed out.
Hermione sighed, “I suppose you have a point, but how am I supposed to convince them to want to be free when they’ve been brainwashed into thinking being a slave is good?”
“Why don’t you go down to the kitchens and talk to the House Elves there?” Harry asked.
“That’s not a bad idea,” Hermione said thoughtfully. “Maybe Dobby can help me convince them.”
“Dobby?” Daphne asked.
“A House Elf that used to belong to the Malfoy’s,” Harry told her. “I tricked Lucius Malfoy into freeing him in second year.”
“Wait, you stole Malfoy’s House Elf and his mum?” she asked humorously. “No wonder he hates you.”
Harry spent the rest of lunch explaining to Daphne exactly how he’d freed Dobby, which led to him explaining the whole Chamber of Secrets incident. By the time he was done, they’d finished lunch and got up to leave the Three Broomsticks. As they stepped outside, Hermione bid them a quick goodbye and headed for the bookstore at the end of the road. Harry felt a bit nervous to be left alone with Daphne as they headed toward Zonko’s.

Narcissa looked up from her book and smiled as Harry entered their private room and shrugged off his cloak.
“Hey,” she said softly. “How was your date with Daphne?”
“I think it went well,” Harry said, sighing as he sat on the couch next to her. “We mostly talked about classes and stuff.”
“Did you kiss her?” she asked.
She smirked when Harry blushed lightly.
“On the cheek,” he said.
“Then I’m sure you did fine,” Narcissa said, patting his thigh. “Daphne is the kind of girl that will let you know if you screw up.”
“I guess,” Harry shrugged. “It just kind of felt weird when we were alone.”
“How so?” she asked curiously.
“I think it was because you weren’t there,” he admitted softly, staring down at his fidgeting fingers. “It felt like I was… cheating.”
Narcissa blinked in surprise and then smiled widely. Curling her finger under his chin, she lifted his face and kissed him passionately. Harry wound his arms around her waist and pulled her into his lap as their kiss grew more heated. Suddenly, his cold fingers grazed the skin under the hem of her jumper, and Narcissa squealed as she pulled away abruptly.
“You and your cold hands,” she huffed playfully.
Twisting around, she planted herself sideways in his lap and rubbed his hands with hers, both to warm them up and to keep them from wandering back under her jumper until they were.
“Harry, you’re not cheating on me with Daphne. I told you to go on a date with her,” she reminded him.
“I know,” he sighed.
“You didn’t feel that way about Hermione, did you?” she asked.
“Well, no,” Harry admitted. “But I think that’s because you’ve been there for everything.”
“Wait, are you saying you haven’t done anything with Hermione when I’m not around?” Narcissa asked.
“Er, I think we might have kissed once or twice,” he said after a moment of thought.
“Oh, you poor, foolish man,” she chuckled, shaking her head. “You need to pull that girl into a broom cupboard and give her some proper attention soon.”
“What? Why?” Harry asked, confused.
“Because she needs to know you find her desirable when I’m not there,” she told him. “You don’t want her to think you only find her attractive when she’s in bed with your mistress, now, do you?”
“Well, no,” Harry said.
“Good,” Narcissa smiled and pecked his lips. “And if you’re worrying about me, don’t. I’m a Slytherin and a Black. I find the fact that you can attract several powerful witches at once very appealing.”
“Really?” he asked.
“Mh hm,” she nodded, caressing his hair.
Harry pulled her close, kissed her passionately, and slipped his hands under the hem of her jumper. Fortunately, his hands had warmed enough that they weren’t shockingly cold anymore. His fingers teased the skin of her lower back and sides before he suddenly grabbed her bum and stood. Narcissa gasped as she wrapped her arms and legs around him. She giggled as he carried her towards the bedroom.
Setting her down at the foot of the bed, Harry grabbed the hem of her shirt and jumper and pulled them over her head. As Narcissa tamed her hair, Harry stared at her large, pale breasts encased in a lacy black bra. With a smirk, she bit her lip coyly and slipped her hands under his jumper, tracing her fingers along the contours of his abs until he took the hint and took it off. Sliding her hands back down, she unblocked his belt and helped him step out of his trousers.
Narcissa barely had a moment to enjoy the sight of his naked body before he pushed her back on the mattress and started working on pulling off her slacks. When she lifted her hips, Harry hooked his fingers under the waistband of her knickers and pulled, removing everything she wore below the waist. Tossing his glasses somewhere on the floor, he grabbed the back of her thighs just below the knee, spread her legs wide, dropped to his knees, and buried his face between her pale thighs. Narcissa gasped, her hands clutching the back of his head as he planted a kiss on her folds.
Despite his impatience at getting where he was, Harry took his time when he got there. He teasingly kissed all around her folds, his hands lightly caressing her thighs. Narcissa bucked her hips and tugged his hair to try and get him to go where she wanted, but he deftly avoided her more sensitive areas until she let out a whimper. His bright green eyes met hers, and suddenly, his tongue parted her lips. Gasping, she arched her back and locked her legs behind his back. Slowly, he traced a circuit around her entrance before delving in and flicking his tongue up over her clit.
“Harry,” Narcissa moaned desperately.
He ignored her plea. Instead, he retraced his steps several times until she was panting and throbbing with need. Just as she was about to start begging, he pressed his tongue flat against her engorged nub and ungulated it. She clamped her thighs around his head as if doing so would keep his tongue in place and arched her back with a moan. Reaching up, Harry grasped one of her breasts and rubbed his thumb over her swollen nipple.
Desperate to feel him fully, Narcissa sat up, unclasped her bra, and tossed it aside. As she laid back down, he grasped her full breasts and attacked her clit. With the tip of his tongue, he circled, flicked it side to side, up and down, and drew abstract patterns that drove her wild. Gasping for breath, she arched her back and bucked her hips as her eyes slowly rolled into the back of her head. Her hands tightened into a white-knuckled grip that she knew would hurt his hair, but she could tell her body to stop.
Narcissa’s stuttering breaths stopped with a gasp when he wrapped his lips around her clit, sucked lightly, and lashed it furiously with his tongue. Her body lurched, her muscles quivered, and she sucked in a lungful of air before letting out a pleasured scream. She hunched in on herself, arched her back, trembled, and then hunched in on herself again as her orgasm crashed over her in waves. Her mind was so awash with euphoria that she couldn’t put into thought what Harry was doing anymore. She just knew that it felt amazing, perfectly following the crest and waning of her climax until she collapsed breathlessly on the mattress.
As she untangled her hands from his disheveled hair and relaxed her legs, Harry stood, wiped his glistening chin, and smiled. His swollen, throbbing erection jutted out, begging for release.
It took a minute for Narcissa to catch her breath. When she did, she scooted back until she was fully on the bed, propped herself up on her elbows, and beckoned him with a finger. Harry’s smile turned into a lust-filled grin as he climbed onto the mattress and crawled towards her. Reaching her knees, he bent down and kissed his way up her thighs, over her stomach, paused to nuzzle her breasts, and then continued up until he reached her lips. Narcissa wrapped her arms around him and caressed his back as he settled between her legs.
She gasped against his lips when his hard, hot erection brushed her sensitive folds. A deep, rumbling groan reverberated in his chest, and Harry ground himself against her slick mound, sending a shock of pleasure up her spine. Reaching between their bodies, Narcissa lined him up with her entrance, dug her heels into his bum, and pressed until he was buried to the hilt in her sweltering depths.
Harry broke their kiss, and Narcissa closed her eyes, relishing the pleasant way she stretched around his girth. As her blue eyes fluttered open, she was met with bright green. The intensity of his stare nearly took her breath away as Harry rolled his hips. Their lips met in a brief but powerful kiss before he pulled back, rested his forehead against hers, and fell into a rhythm. Narcissa dug her nails into his back as the young man moved above her, driving himself to the hilt over and over. The world around them and even time itself lost all meaning as she rolled her hips and gazed into his soulful eyes.
Harry might not have been one for expressive words, but his eyes spoke volumes. Everything she needed to know about his feelings for her were staring her in the face and burrowing their way into her soul.
“Harry,” she breathed.
Eventually, the sensations became too much, and her eyes drifted closed. Pilling him close, she kissed him as passionately as their heavy breathing would allow. Moments later, another climax crashed over her. While not as powerful as the first, it felt infinitely more satisfying. Even as it trailed off, it never seemed to end completely. Every thrust of his hips sent a thrill of pleasure coursing through her body. Narcissa clutched at his body, desperate to feel every inch of body against hers as she kissed and sucked at his neck.
It felt like hours and yet far too soon when Harry shivered above her. The movement of his hips grew more frantic, plunging desperately into her sweltering depths. Narcissa met his thrusts, urging him on with her body until his muscles went taut. Snapping his hips forward one last time, he buried himself as deep as possible and erupted. The heat of his release seemed to fill her very soul as he groaned against the side of her neck. Narcissa clutched at his body, holding him in place long after he’d stopped pulsating inside of her.
She didn’t even remember falling asleep. It was like she blinked and suddenly found herself in a different position. They were lying on their sides, his arms cradling her against his chest. Lifting her head, she gazed at his sleeping face and smiled softly. With one hand, she reached up and gently caressed his face.
“I love you, Harry,” she whispered.
She knew he couldn’t hear her in his sleep, and yet his arms tightened around her. As she closed her eyes, a tear of joy slid down her cheek. Burying her face against his chest, she drifted back into a quiet, peaceful sleep.
A/N: The original intention was to have Daphne join long term, but I'm not sure if that's the best choice anymore. I'm not sure who I should add, or even if I should at all for now. I kind of think it would be fun to explore more casual relationships with the unhappy Death Eater wives. But I'm still thinking about what direction to go, so let me know what you think in the comments.

I like the direction you’re going with it currently but a slow burn with Daphne would be (pardon for the lack of a better word) to slow, as dumb as it sounds a medium pace seems correct from the impression I’ve gotten of her, she likes him and is not against a relationship with Harry. Her opening up to him would be able to set a medium pace, to me the fast development seems forced a good 60% of the time in other fits and it’s off putting. These are my thoughts

Slow burns are what make sense for formal courtship and building love between two strangers. Old fashioned courtship doesn't have to mean no sex, though, just secretive sex. Harry having a mature woman to spell out seduction for him is also kinda like cheat codes. The thing is, friendship building is courtship. Harry and Hermione teaching Muggle stuff to Daphne and genuinely making her laugh and enjoy her time with them is fun to read. I'd encourage you to stretch explanations of book content a bit. The new perspectives on recommunicated explanations (telephone game) can be fun, as well as new character reactions to things. "You're really a Parseltongue?" (Oh shit thats really good in a lover/he's a literal snake charmer. Daphne explaining to Hermione how someone might use Parseltongue for more than talking to snakes would be a hilarious conversation.) The nice guy who lucked into a poly relationship isn't really the guy to do rapid-fire Slytherin stealing, unless he's pushed by someone who hates him into conflict. Duelling for the right to court is right there in the history books. Toying with the Pansy steal, because she's just a tool Draco uses, (She made the buttons, acts the way she does cause she gets positive reinforcement from the rich boy who is her ticket to her ambition) leads us to the question. How do you steal a devoted fan? You prove their devotion isn't respected, while also proving your just as deserving of that devotion. Death Eater wives is a curious choice. On the one hand, they are complete unknowns. On the other hand, you can basically split them two ways, both ways giving you inroads for storywriting. They're either complicit, across a spectrum of canon Narcissa to canon Bellatrix, or prisoners in their own homes, a la Merope Gaunt or this stories Narcissa Malfoy. P.S. Cissy is the name the black sisters used, for their SISter, notably insane Bellatrix. Reading Hermione call her that is odd, since Cissa seems much more sensible for a shortened name, especially outside the bedroom. Just my preference though. I kinda dislike -y nicknames.

I've always thought that Daphne provides a nice counterbalance to Hermione. She's just as smart and, unlike the Malfoys and their ilk, a true Slytherin. The two of them together are formidable.

Im a fan of Daphne being a slower burn. Maybe she can orchestrate who Harry beds. This could be an excellent 30 plus chapter story of Harry’s amorous adventures. Only one he should maybe avoid is Ms. Zabini.

I thought the opposite. Most of what I’ve read seems to be people thinking she’s just a prop to be discarded. Doesn’t mean Draco wouldn’t be pissed about it.

Never really understood why people see Pansy as someone that Draco is attached to. She comes off as a Draco fan girl. Draco keeps her around to prop himself up. Just my thoughts on it though.

Courting Daphne doesn’t have to be a fast sale. A courtship can take time and even have required phases. She knows she is getting into a multi-relationship and has been raised much like Narcissa. The idea of Harry taming other “powerful” men’s wives could appeal to her. At least while they are courting.
