Scott

Too much? That was great

Teraseneste

I beieve the phrase 'go big or go home' is appropriate in this instance. I think that 'the 300' comparison doesn't quite work because magic can change the battlefield to much for both sides to make such a senario work for long. The same thing could be said for the 'Home Alone' idea, though I think it could be hilarious to have such as a series where it is about seeing what different characters would do in such a situation. Feel free to update this story more often.

ChaoticLiz

The only thing you went to far in is leaving us on a cliffhanger like that! That’s rude! I wanna see more violence!!

Zitronen tee

I am guessing he needs to pace his endurance a little. If he expends a lot of power on prepping for the small fry, he might lack that little bit against the real threat. Also, since he intends to make the front lawn his arena, "dumb" traps are out. Once he and Voldemort enter the squared circle those traps are just as much a danger to Harry as they are to Voldemort. Meaning golems, transfigurations and animations are the only real options. And those can't be hidden, so no surprise. The rain to weigh down robes and giving material for liquid to liquid transfiguration was ingenious enough.

The home alone situation inside the house, while humorous, made me wonder why Harry just prepped with only 2 animations and a rain calling spell and stood around for the rest of the time. Mentioning that the DE's could apparate and the use of the water into petrol transifiguration also made me think "why is he standing still letting them come to him instead of apparating all over them and casting chain lightning until they're cooked?" Was the goal to show just how shaken he was by the ambush/attack that he got taken out of his game to the point where's he's fighting fully defensively? Because he's typically far more pro-active. Well done if so.

Stormfox2

I love this story, but the Chapter breaks are painful. Such a cliffhanger

GhostnKC

I see the start of a 300 type of battle. Brains vs brawn with Harry and crew having brawn and brains to use it properly. Let's ramp it up with Moldywart getting his ass kicked (barely) while the Potters possibly loosing a house but being mostly unscathed.

GhostnKC

I couldn't have worded it better. I. Also borrowing your 300 comment for mine .

HowlerAtTheMoon

This is honestly my favorite story, and loved the serious battle in front while the B-Team Death Eaters deal with the charms and hexes in the back, can't wait for the next chapter, as always: AMAZING CHAPTER!

Jerry Wright

Your writing has really improved.I don’t know whether this or 30 Days is your best fic, but they are both amazing.

torlan

Glad to see my favorite story back, I don’t think you have gone to far. They can’t hold back. It is a delaying action. Injuries will make the death eaters go slower. This gives the bones and the DMLE more time. Great story thanks for writing.

Dr.Scribe

Almost feel like it could have been toned down a step to far as is. Would have been hilarious if Crabb or Goyle got knocked out from being chocked or a few more nicks off of the knives. Perhaps the griffins had not just been described of having taken them out but actually had ended them to add clarification and a visceral thing to the stakes. Other than that really good action and only one finesse thing that would have made the already good pacing hit ever so slightly better but love the chapter

Matthew Williams

Don't tone it down. Go bigger.

Ironcoil

You have setup the beginning of what can be an epic ‘The 300’ type battle, magic edition. Here creativity and intelligence can trump power and numbers. I don’t think you need to tone it down but ramp it up in regards to showing that it’s not just Harry that can thrown down and really start to tip the scales against the death eaters. It’s one thing I always thought was strange in canon is the unwashed masses never fought back and forced Toms followers to pause in their zealous beliefs when they all start to realize they might not come back. I’m really looking forward to the next chapter. Keep up the great work!

Professor Quill

It's not missing, it just isn't picking it up in the chapters tab. I'm working to try and fix it. If you use the search function, you should be able to find it. Also, I don't want to have to rename three files every time I write a new chapter. Complete just means that it's the most up to date collection of chapters.

Doug Barton

Happy to have my favorite story advancing. :) FYI, the "complete" EPUB is missing Ch. 32. Also wanted to mention again the idea of using something other than "Complete" in the file name when the story isn't actually done. Something like, "Full through Ch. 33" perhaps?

Mr.LeeII

If I was the Potters with someone with future knowledge I would have turned any lawn space into a combined magical/mundane minefield. Or just mundane. Also set up second set of wards or ones to keep them from fleeing. It would not be plot armor because Harry knows they will be attacked even through any changes. Still interested where this goes.

Sean Brindley

I loved it. Keep it up but then again I grew up on Monty Python so your sense of humor is right up my alley... lol

Joe Smith

Don't tone it down! Give us MORE!

Zitronen tee

I might just be weird, but I liked the dissonance. It kept the chapter from going too grimdark, because, lets face it, Harry Potter magic taken straight and to the bitter conclusion is horrifying. If you have the reality bending powers to make whatever depraved shit the human mind can come up with real, there is no bottom to the hole. So yeah, the Boss Battle on the lawn goes very well with the silly ambush in the house.

Kasikan

He really should have used the bushes better. I was expecting him to have them use their branches like spears. Instead it was nothing more than a minor distraction. If done right, they could have wiped out 20-30 people in seconds by impaling them all as they charged in. Same with the doorway. I'd have expected the stuff to be lethal there, not minor hindrances. Instead of a life or death situation, the stuff feels more like minor pranks.

Doobiesnax42

While it was entertaining, the home alone aspect seemed a bit out of place, especially with the tense mood that had been built. I enjoyed it, but think it would have a better place in a less serious portion of the story. Otherwise, another great chapter! Oh, and before I forget, ef you and your cliffhangers 😂 Definitely looking forward to next time, Quill 🤙🏻

WrexColeTrain

Alastor Moody stars in Home Alone: Hogwarts Edition. THIS. I WANT TO READ THIS . I can't believe it's YET another Cliffe but nice to see this progress forward.

Professor Quill

lmao

tornadoboy

Quill should be hired as a writer for the MCU!!!

Laughing_Turtle

Crouch has been such a downright enemy to the forces of the Light that I'm surprised no blood feuds have been called against him.

Zenny

It was the right approach. No need to tone it down. I liked the home alone aspect.

jp9901

Cliffhanger is gonna be the death of me! Love the creativity and the viciousness of the Potter family

Captain Hair

Imagine Dumbledore flaming in with Fawkes and setting the Death Eaters on fire right before Harry could. Just utter confusion plastered on his face at the sight.

Nick_Fel

I don't know but everyone else, but I was here for it. Great chapter.

Erinnyes

The home alone concept was fun... But the tonal dissonance was a bit jarring. You went from Harry turning rain into gasoline to set people on fire to slapstick humor and it felt... a bit wrong, and it robbed the situation of some of the gravitas you'd done a fantastic job building. That said, absolutely awesome job in all other respects.
