The original Nanoha was probably the first to set magical girls as Gundams instead of Sentai. The designs certainly inspired a lot of later magical girls show that had the costumes be more mechanical such as Symphogear. It's funny that as time goes on, Nanoha's magical girl design looks more and more like a Gundam.
