Impel Down: The Lost Episode (Shades)
🕑 Added 2025-06-22 01:15:10 +0000 UTCThis idea requires some real world backstory. Way back in the day Manga in the US wasn't actually printed simultaneously with the Japanese releases. Japan would be several arcs ahead of where the English readers were and so if you knew Japanese or had access to the much more obscure tl-sites back then you had advance knowledge.
So some people with that knowledge, came together to create a hoax using art of a fake 'leak' from the Impel Down arc where Luffy would be turned female and dressed in an Impel Down guard uniform by Ivankov to help reach Ace and for 2008-2009 era internet a lot of people fell for it.
Ultimately that's not what happens but I decided to create a 'lost episode' to fill in that fake story... Of course maybe a bit more extreme than what even the hoax said would happen... I tried to write it in such a way that it would make sense as a filler episode where it happens inbetween canon events and, ultimately has no lasting effect on what happens next, its just a fun 'well that could have happened inbetween scenes!'
Luffy yelling out Ace on page 3 was a last minute decision. I thought it made the whole scene feel a bit more wrong, and therefore hotter. If people really hate it I can post a version with that line deleted and just have the moan.

Never know about this hoax but you do a good story with them . No more people uses Ivankov for change luffy but your tg impel down luffy is great

Never even knew about that hoax, I've been following it in Japanese for a long time so scanlation stuff was lost on me. Love this idea and its execution!
