Claire wasn’t qualified for this position and knew that when she made the decision. What that means is the learning curves are going to be much steeper than for her without prior experience under knowledgeable guidance. In addition, anyone can get swamped and have a poor conversation with their significant other. Her last comment sounds (to us) like grumpy self-directed snark.
