What’s so hard about it? Anh is probably well used to people who think they can get away with anything, while Pintsize has recently demonstrated a remarkable gift for psychological insight. Both are largely unshockable, and both have demonstrated an interest in puppy play. And Anh needs a friend while Pintsize needs a new human for his companion function.

One point: I don't see anything about Ayo's arc that's been related to her being "fixed". There haven't even been hints at it. (I also don't find her annoying, mind you. Yes, she's a lot, but that's just a thing sometimes). Her arc as far as I can tell is about her finding her own way and moving on from a life where her parents dictated everything; that doesn't mean she's being "fixed" by anything. She just has a job now xD The other thing is that we've moved on from QC's main source of conflict/plot being romantic dynamics. You could argue that "who will this person hook up with?" is annoying as a recurring plotline, but that was how it was for a while xD There are still romantic storylines of course, but I actually think it's a nice change not to have the direction for all new characters revolve around who they're into or might be into. You mention that these are three very different characters and I think that's to Jeph's credit as a character writer - it only sounds samey when you cast them as "annoying character gets fixed", but as mentioned, that isn't really what's happening for Ayo, and for Liz and Anh, they're still on very different paths.

I dunno. Time for an unpopular opinion. I've loved QC for 20 years and have really enjoyed plots like Brun / Clinton / Elliot, Roko's rights organisation / May's body, everything to do with Yay, etc. Recently we've had Liz, Ayo and now Anh - 3 very different people but all variations of "this person is annoying - how will they get 'fixed'?" You could say that Faye had a similar arc but that happened over decades while other stuff was going on. I really like Liz and Ayo (Anh not so much) but it's all a little one dimensional recently. *shrug*
