Hardest lesson for me-as-dad to teach my developmentally-delayed daughter: "don't let anyone assume they have the right to hug you. Not even me. Your body is yours." First time I asked her for a hug and she said "no" I totally respected her wishes, and at the first opportunity for some private time, had me a quiet cry. Your body is yours.

Bubbles and Faye would be great moms. I'm kinda hoping this leads to a "Faye considers various sperm donors" storyline. That could be amusing. And what's the legality of an AI being a parent in this universe? Could be an interesting direction to explore. (And what about when there's no human parent at all? Could be interesting to see a pair of AIs try to adopt. And their subsequent problems in dealing with the more biological aspects of raising a baby.)

I don't have the receipts like BookBeard does, but I remember one instance for sure where Roko had just recovered from dissociating, and she asked Yay if it was possible for them to go in and fiddle with the parts of her that caused her Body Integration Disorder. Yay said definitively that they could, but it was staunchly against their principles, even if it was to help Roko.

When Winslow wanted to upgrade from his old iPod body to a humanoid chassis, he told Hanners, "I think I'm a boy". So it would seem that gender identification (or lack thereof) is something that arises as part of the mysterious process that gives AIs their distinct personalities. As we've seen with May, Roko, et al., choosing a body to express that identity is involves a bunch of factors including personal self-image, cost, and how well the material body meshes with the AI psyche.

Im not sure we know how AI's are really "Created", she was probably always female presenting. As for her appearance, if I remember correctly it was to put the other soldiers at ease. If they gave her a body like a terminator, it would probably freak out the troops.
