Opus the Poet
Not really, it isolates mistakes to the one layer and prevents erasing good lines by mistake.
Graydon Armstrong
Am I missing something? Wouldn't that process of making a new layer for each stroke then flattening it in be equivalent to just making the stroke on the combined layer in the first place?
GragSmash
i remember hearing a story about a webcomic artist who said that after every pen stroke he would flatten all the layers and then make a new layer for the penstroke. However he doesn't have nearly the cast size and repeated settings or posting frequency, so that's probably more of an option. I guess it's just interesting as an outsider to this art to hear people talk about their processes. I think my kiddo makes new layers frequently but doesn't really transfer them between pieces.
Mark
That was what I thought too.
Scott Gosnell
I just figured maybe Willow took off her glasses to relax at the coffee shop, as glasses-wearing people are sometimes wont to do, especially when they've been having quite a day of it. I know I do.
JourneymanWizard
F*ck, I'm team Iris now
Graydon Armstrong
Willow, not your fault, at all. Hanners, not everything needs to be made a big deal of. As long as no harm was done, you should try to cut someone slack for reacting poorly in a *one-off* emotional situation.
Clifton Royston
I'll go with. Bat or no bat.
Clifton Royston
Yes. I just finished commenting that too, right before I saw yours. In my observation, even people who have a strong potential for dissociation via whatever non-neurotypical wiring is involved don't usually go there instantly, unless they've previously had to use it too many times.
ValdVin
*This is not intended as medical advice. Do not reduce or eliminate any mental health treatments you are currently undergoing. Or, as Faye said, "Imagine how much better an actual professional would be!"
Clifton Royston
And she was raised in a cult. [hit enter too soon, continuing.] What concerns me is how she went straight to dissociating. Even people whose brains seem to be wired for easy dissociation don't usually go there *that* fast unless they were exposed to some form of abuse or severe neglect (which is also a form of abuse.)
Ursus Ridens
I know she needs her glasses*, but Willow's even cuter without them. *Or does she? "I'm not nearsighted -- I'm just drawn that way".

bonus comic showing Iris & the scorched earth ...

JUST like an onion. Or a troll…
Claudia D.
And maybe take a swing? I mean REALLY Willow, protect yourself!
Fennec12
Please let Iris find out about this.
Maurice Kessler
Don't I know it.
Maurice Kessler
Hanners saw the same sad expression on her one-time assistant. Both people who blamed themselves for what others had done.

This whole thread is a therapy session. Thanks. lol

Or maybe she's so optimistic that if it were up to her people would always get another chance, even if they've already proven themselves to be untrustworthy.
Drazi
Yes. All this.
Derek Garrard
I AM NOT ENJOYING HOW MUCH OF WILLOW IS JUST ME, JEPHEW.
alphanor
It's only hidden from Willow, not from everyone else.
Opus the Poet
Sean, maybe!
enchantedsleeper
I guess mid-20s makes sense for Hanners, maybe late 20s based on vibes (since I feel like Marten should be in his 30s now even if the timeline disagrees xD). 24 checks out for Willow, IMO.
enchantedsleeper
Ah, so Willow isn't actually amazing at handling emotions and conflict after all... I wonder if she's just been working on it a lot (as in, therapy) due to her life experiences. Or maybe she's good at controlling her own reactions to things but doesn't get that other people can still be a problem.
Bill Silvia
I'm gonna have to make sure their actual ages are on my spreadsheet that I haven't updated in a while.
Waffles the Mooose
Aww, Willow...! 🥺
Uniquitous
Does she have enough availabile? Because I know a guy...
SilverbackRon
Hanners better not mention it around Station, we already know his solution to problems include orbital bombardment with a rail gun.
Robert Weber
bolster broke glasses
BookBeard
As the original provider of the chair, I believe Bubbles would trust Hanners' judgement on who is in need of it's comfy energy. https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=3247
Alcaria Swain
Thank you, based Bookbeard!
BookBeard
I would estimate Hanners to be no more than two years older than Willow. Hanners turned 22 roughly 2-3 years ago (in-universe timescale) and Willow was stated to be 23 less than a year ago. https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1069 https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=4449
Jennifer Doyle
Willow is an excellent example of someone taking responsibility for a situation they cannot control so they can feel more in control of it.
Yelling Bird
Come on Dark Side Iris...
William Cole
I'm glad you're big enough to admit it. That's the first step.
William Cole
"Don't worry! It's not MY blood!"
Tannerbot
Awwwww, willow, you make me sad. We need to boost your self esteem.
Czarzhan
I think Willow is just reacting to Iris's cynicism by more fully embracing naivety.
Mark Nach
Thanks. I knew she has some messed up life event but I could not remember what it was. It really does explain why a certain grumpy AI (I'm looking at you Iris) is guarding her like the crown jewels. Besides a hidden love that is.
Diptych
Here you are: 🐔
Taigan
Ok, Iris needs to be doing a better job infusing Willow with just a bit more cynicism.
Joseph Bonnar
Isn't there already a charge for Barista advising people? Hrm...
Joseph Bonnar
I am not sure, Alcaria. To be honest, BookBeard might know. I doubt Jeph would. :)
Alcaria Swain
The comic is now just the thirties coaching the twenties. (I'm sure they're actually the same age.... Wait how old is everyone now?)
Grace Kieser
Like an onion!
Sammitch
Hanners should start invoicing people for sorting their shit out while on the clock. :P
Sleepy John
May the serenity of Bubbles’ Chair give her peace.
Sean Kinlin
For next feat, choose Lightning Reflexes.
BookBeard
Well, she did grow up in a cult. That's bound to leave a few psychological marks. https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=5272
nbarnes
That's how I learned those sorts of behaviors and self-talk.
Daryl Sawyer
I've been where Willow is. When you are taught at an early age to take responsibility for your own problems, that can be interpreted as avoiding acknowledging the role others play in our problems. This is just as unhealthy as avoiding responsibility, and can result in failure to manage the impact the irresponsibility or even malice of others on our lives
Joseph
No, I think she and Mar are in a different class.
John Fiala
FFS Willow! This is not your fault! Although yes, ducking is a useful skill to have.
Mark Nach
Willow has many of the characteristics of a long term abused person.
BookBeard
Sean PERHAPS
BookBeard
Nah, we saw her going with Marigold quite recently. I think Willow is just teaching more classes now so Hanners isn't necessarily in all of them. https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=5443
Daniel Mann
Love Willow, and her optimism! But someone let Hanners loose!!!
BobC
I'm at fault. I'm the one. I'll take all the credit. Er, blame, I mean.
Wynn Donivan
Sean YES
Tim Mitchell
That’s my current headcanon
Bill Silvia
I just realized, does this mean Hanners quit yoga?
Andrea Andrew
Humor goes well with tackling assault!
Miyaa
And other sculptures?
Emma Humphries
WILLOW. NO!
A Dark Planet, Lit By No Sun
Hanners is ready to throw hands.
Miyaa
Tomorrow: Iris comes in, bloodied and dented. But happy. Naturally, Ayo faints.
Doc Gumby
I was thinking the same thing.
Miyaa
Yes, again no robot court will convict her.
Doc Gumby
I just want to cradle Willow's head to my broad and manly chest, pet her hair and say, "Shh, it'll be all right."
Miyaa
I’m sure Iris knows but I don’t think she’s the huggable kind.
Miyaa
Sean NO
Viktor
IDK, "duck faster" feels like a good lesson to learn in general.
Ben R
Maybe Willow took them both out and is ashamed...
Sean Kinlin
Jeph creates characters with many layers.
Celine Chamberlin
Willow needs a hug. Where's Iris when you need her?
Bill Silvia
I'm pretty sure that was shock.
Sean Kinlin
Are you sure you're thinking clearly, Willow? Did you maybe take a blow to the head recently.... oh
Gary Wood
She’s reflecting.
Yonatan Zunger
Willow no
Fart Captor
That's it I'm telling Iris and giving her a bat
Nick
Part of me is just waiting for Yay to show up like "sup fuckers I'm back and I'm not going to acknowledge that I was ever gone"
Summer
Hopefully the use of Bubble's chair will be excused in this instance.
BookBeard
I mean, "duck when someone tries to hit you in the face" isn't a *bad* lesson to take away...
Rich Holmes
Oh sure, Willow's GLASSES have a layer, but do I? I do not. I get no respect.
Brendan Luster

Eric Rucker
Or just use the excuse that the bolster knocked the glasses off a strip late.
