Perhaps he's taking the "Big Bang Theory" approach. That not everyone who is somehow considered different by society needs to be "Labeled and Cured". The other characters you mention are really minor characters who we haven't even seen in ages so not sure they count much for representation, and Millefeuille isn't even human so I'm not sure "Ace" can apply to her. Also I'm not even sure we went into enough depth with the others to know if they're Ace or not.

Because I don't know of anyone like that who hasn't had a character arc "curing" them of their hangups. Is (or was) Sven really hypersexual? He looks to me like a young guy of more or less normal levels of sexuality, who just got a lot of opportunities (thanks to good looks, authorial-fiat charm, and success in his craft), and who saw very little reason not to take those opportunities. He was perfectly capable of restraint (as when he took Hanners on that pretend-date), and since he's decided that the whole thing had become rather unsatisfactory, he seems to have switched to something verging on celibacy without undue stress.

Is there really a defined difference though? I mean, she -can- technically, but she doesn't want to because body fluids freak her out. And I guess so does any sort of physical contact per that comic. Although it's worth noting that she doesn't seem interested in a non-sexual relationship with anyone either. And in a way there's nothing stopping her from having a relationship with an AI, since an AI can actually be 100% sterile, which should negate her fears if that was the only issue. So I dunno, I mean it's never been addressed completely, but I feel like Hanners being Ace on at least some level makes sense because this comic is generally pretty representative, too. Perhaps it's meant to remain somewhat of a mystery. As a side note Hanners looks super weird in that comic compared to todays version of her. The art really has come a long ways.

If this ends up with Hannelore and Sven dating: On the one hand, sure, that has been a possibility since almost a decade-and-a-half ago (#1761 *et seq.*). On the other hand, asexual plus (perhaps formerly) hypersexual can only result in sorrow. However this relationship (in the non-romantic sense of the word) works out in the end: I'm there for it!

I think some people are missunderstanding what Sven meant by ”normal”. He is not saying Hanners isn’t normal. He is thankful for her acting normal in his pressence.
