Back when I was a bright young kid, along about 1990, I got to show off how smart-aleck I was to my mainframe coworkers. They were trying to upload some data to the mainframe from our PCs. It wasn't working, Only garbage appeared on the 3270 terminals. Why didn't it work? It worked fine going the other way.... Well, it was because EBSCDIC was not just a mainframe thing, it was an IBM thing. We were using Displaywrite IV, an IBM word processor. Programs that translate EBCDIC to/from ASCII don't work when called upon to translate EBCDIC to EBSIDIC.... I became a guru of the subtleties of translating from an IBM PC to an IBM Minicomputer to an IBM mainframe. And it made a significant difference if your PC was running Displaywrite or Wordperfect, or Word. Fun times. Thank God for WWW standards and Unicode. After that, all we had to worry about was translating different versions of HTML

To be clear, when I say that it annoys me when people make the mistake of generalizing us, I'm not calling you out. I'm not calling out QC either. It's been frustrating me lately with various webcomics that try to tackle asexuality and don't seem to really be talking about it from any educated place. I also think that Hannelore is just like. I genuinely really like her character and want to see her challenged more! So I'm obviously rooting for an outcome that puts her in an uncomfortable place, and getting her into a relationship with an asexual person who doesn't know that they're asexual would be pretty challenging for her! but it's basically mental fanfic at this point.

okay so without getting super into the weeds, asexuality is a big spectrum and yes, I do know ace people who either like getting railed or, much more often, really really like the fantasy of it. One of my biggest pet peeves is that people tend to define all asexuality as extremely binary, "doesn't enjoy sex and isn't attracted to anyone". It's not even a spectrum--it's two spectrums, following those two separate components of asexuality. realistically, "I want him to rail me" isn't an ace line, assuming she knows she's ace. But I will point out that it's also very psychological language. The act of penetration might not be as important as the act of "being railed". The line implies she's not ace, but it still doesn't rule it out, especially when... Do we call it compallo? ... exists. basically, it's complicated, but I also can't be reasoned with.
