Your wife and past me are the same! I discovered QC in 2005 and it was the first comic I actually enjoyed reading without dyslexia making me angry. I spent a couple of days reading everything from the beginning (a much easier feat than your wife has now 19 years later!) and I never looked back. So happy to still be here and to know that QC continues to find new fans. <3
David Durant
Thanks very much!
Clifton Royston
To me it's so sad, because for a moment, while Iris is hoping Willow will say she has feelings for her, you see her face relax and look vulnerable and open - and then she just clamps down again to the usual rigid stare and starts belittling herself.
Clifton Royston
@Minzoku My daughter and husband did the same, courthouse marriage in Chicago, but she called me on the phone first to make sure I wouldn't be offended to not be there. It was sweet of her, but I told her no problem.
Clifton Royston
I have to share this because I'm so tickled about it: My wife has always said she just can't read comics - something about her dyslexia made it hard for her to put together the pictures and words concurrently. Nonetheless I got her hooked on QC back at the beginning of the Cubetown events, especially with Liz's storyline, and she's been following along since, but insisted she had no interest in knowing any of the backstory. A couple nights ago I looked over at her computer, and she was starting to read QC from strip #1, because she wanted to know the whole story. One of us, one of us!
Clifton Royston
24 years here! And we now have a grandchild, by way of the daughter from my previous marriage.
Clifton Royston
I just saw that one while following people's links from the previous strip: https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=4762
David Durant
Hey BookBeard. On the off chance you see this. I'd like to show a friend the strip where Willow is explaining to Iris about people thinking she's flirting. What's the strip number please? Thanks.
Graydon Armstrong
Damn, Bubs looked good before getting all dolled up. That shirt and hair are so pretty casual on her.
Carl G Knoblock
Of course he could have done a lot of things differently, but I think he cut off the dresses on purpose. I think most of us enjoyed that choice.
enchantedsleeper
Oh, I like the new style on Faye. Good choice IMO
enchantedsleeper
So it's just Dora who's naked in Panel 2 then 😂 (I do think Jeph could have included the top of her dress...)
Ross
Panel 2 is doomed to be rule34ed...
Ross
Our 30th is this October!
Carl G Knoblock
I noticed that Fay's dress got spaghetti straps, and she also got a necklace in the final non Patreon release. Dora's ring is still missing.
SilverbackRon
Interestingly now that the comic has posted, Faye has spaghetti straps and a very pretty necklace. Dora is still missing her wedding ring that disappears from panel one to panel three.

🤣🤣🤣 You are kinda right! 🤣🤣🤣
Ursus Ridens
...aaannd, the comic was posted tonight, showing spaghetti straps (not present above) on Faye's dress. Some may find this a bit of a let-down, but I stand by my former exclamation.

maybe you can take part in a LARP where your character gets married?

According to Clinton there was a constitutional amendment granting AI the same rights as humans. This would presumably encompass the right to marry. https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1900
Todd Ellner
Miyaa, it would be completely on point for this comic
Todd Ellner
Yeah, it was probably especially a Thing for me since the first time I encountered it half of the couple was trying to hit on underage me with the aid of drugs and his reputation as a Famous Poet
Todd Ellner
Nonsense! A Three-l lllama is a really big fire
RobertC
Gonna be honest.. it's gonna take Bubbles dragging her to a "make your own ring" class for that to happen.
BookBeard
Very true, but in this case Emmett is most definitely crushing on Sam. https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=4694
Benjamin Geiger
I'm mildly curious whether the Wedding portion of the Ceremony spell might've been a nod to the Sacred Band of Thebes.
Benjamin Geiger
According to everybody's favorite source of knowledge, Wikipedia: "In some languages (Spanish, Welsh, Indonesian, etc.), the postpositive placement of adjectives is the normal syntax, but in English it is largely confined to archaic and poetic uses (e.g. "Once upon a midnight dreary", as opposed to "Once upon a dreary midnight") as well as phrases borrowed from Romance languages or Latin (e.g. heir apparent, aqua regia) and certain fixed grammatical constructions (e.g. "Those anxious to leave soon exited").[1]" and "There are many set phrases in English which feature postpositive adjectives. They are often loans or loan translations from foreign languages that commonly use postpositives, especially French (many legal terms come from Law French)." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Postpositive_adjective

Pintsize begs to differ lol. He's a great organizer!... inside his twisted unfiltered mind.
Elf Sternberg
"Please don't make my costume green. Or animated."
Miyaa
No, Pintsize shouldn’t be organizing anything. He shouldn’t even be organizing Beep’s dildo collection.
Miyaa
Thank goodness you’re not a registered llama. Though that would explain the angry spitting.
A. J. Alfieri-Crispin
I understand what you are saying, but one of the things I’ve learned over time, is that I have no idea about what goes on in other’s relationships, so I like to avoid assuming. And the second things I’d like to point out is while “identifying as” wasn’t a thing, I’d like to challenge you to think that maybe it was already a thing for other folks, and it only entered into being WIDELy recognized as the recent phenomenon. Maybe they were the folks who helped make it a thing.
Todd Ellner
I was at a nude wedding recently and came within an inch of being the Best Man

Not all close friends have to be romantic partners.
Todd Ellner
One thing that really pissed me off in the 80s was having more than one gay male couple introduce themselves as "husband" and "wife". None of them identified as female or was biologically female, and "identifying as" wasn't a thing the way it is today. They still couldn't slip the idea that a marriage had to be one man and one woman. Kind of like "We're both chopsticks, but one of us has to be the spoon, and the other has to be the fork." Glad that got sorted out.
Leak
So you got fan art for your marriage? :D
Todd Ellner
Married thirty years this February. Even when we don't like each other we absolutely love each other. And she is the Sun, Moon, and all the Stars in Heaven.

Oh, you and your bookmarks... *shakes head* :P
Todd Ellner
*mumble* years ago our best as in "we are their kids' guardians and they are our listed next of kin" friends called us. M said "Todd, we want you to marry us." I said "You'll have to clear it with T and she doesn't share." M called me a dick and explained they were tying the knot. I became a registered Lama of the Church of Spiritual Humanism. We whipped up a ceremony and performed it. All legal and all halal complete with ijab, qubool, and mehr. T helped the bride get ready with the understanding she would tackle her if the prewedding jitters took over.

Bubbles has made her into the squishiest softie. 😍 Must be all this talk about their feelings. 🥰

See the story of Unity in Skin Horse’s webcomic becoming a Notary. It’s epic!
A. J. Alfieri-Crispin
On a personal note, my partner and I used to refer to each other as husband, to be in your face about our relationship, to help normalize the idea. But boy oh boy, the day we actually got married in SF city hall, 13 years after our church wedding 1995, when it finally became a civil right, saying “my husband” just took it up to a whole new level. I guess that it feels like that for anyone getting married, but after using the term for all that time, and for it to actually be recognized as legal… mind blowing.
BookBeard
Nope, looks the same to me. https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1

Randall Norman Pick
Beep's not a notary?
Matt Pedone
Partner and I just celebrated our 10th year of marriage, and I have to say, I STILL marvel at how good it feels to be married to her. I refer to my wedding band as my "power ring".
Casey
Long time follower, haven't been a patron as long as I would have liked. This one made me SO HAPPY. They're so good together
D.J. Trindle
O NOES Dora's ring fell off in panel 2!!

She borrowed a little boob myomer from the shop.

Panel 2 Faye is such a classic Faye.
David Paul
And thirded, please!
David Paul
They get taken to some abandoned warehouse which has been quite tastefully decorated, and no less than a 3-tier cake (made at knifepoint, but also paid in full ("we're kidnappers, not criminals!")).
Eric Pike
I was severely confused and excited when I first saw the spread, because everyone looks topless in the bottom frames at first glance 🤣🤣🤣
Charlie Rose
Omg bubbles looks amazing <3
Stephen Wells
They would never do that unless Tai and Bubbles asked nicely if they could watch :)
David Durant
Meanwhie, cut to Sam and Emmett definitely not being on a date at the wedding... 😁
Ravenswing
Considerably, over the years. No doubt the process is ongoing.
legobil
Right? Right?!
legobil
Oh no! She has already lost it! Quick, to the coffee shop and start searching! 😜
Stephen Wells
And Faye's epic balcony :)

It's in the genre of slightly archaic terms where the adjective comes second. Notaries public, sergeants major, attorneys general.
Bagge
ILLICIT WEDDING HOOKUPS!
Larry
Good point. (Hi, Elf!)
fx_in_mind
Jeph you missed Dora's ring on the last panel!

Is it me or has Jeph slightly altered how he draws his characters?

U.S. notaries are not attorneys, but minor officials authorized to take oaths and certify signatures. I used to have a notary public license. I believe the word notary means an attorney in some places/ languages. I don't know if that's the disconnect here, or not.
Carrie
😂🤣😂🤣
Bagge
Bubbles being melodramatic is pretty much the best thing ever
jonesnori
I've heard you can rent bridal gowns, and state parks make cheap venues. You may have to pay a small permit fed.

Double sided tape is wonderful. If it's a single use then you can crazy glue it and use acetone to take it off with zero glue hassles.

we were interested but always put off by the idea of planning a wedding finally pulled the trigger when at least MY parents said the huge wedding is a waste of money, so we courthoused it

lots of make-up and/or fake skin, idk
Mitsuki Ayane
welp, good job Faye, now it is 100% GOING to happen. Bubbles is going to hit you up one night soon, maybe even tonight about the idea and next thing you know, the two of you are engaged. ~<3
Zapski
Or understandable caution. My spouse and I dated for a decade before we decided on marriage
Zapski
I’m available for officiating!

My ex, a non native speaker of English, (and culturally new to sarcasm) learned sarcasm. Honestly, she did it very well and I give her full respect for her mastery of the language. That’s not why we separated, but it was well appreciated
ValdVin
Bubbles said she should "put on makeup" &c for the video call with Faye and Mrs. Whitaker. https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=4281 starting.

I didn't even think of it until I saw the other comments too about how naked they look and now it's all I can see too
Thomas Baxter
Or one could be commissioned the officer of "Fuck" That is assuming that a Commissioner can give commissions of office, the title (and term) being _awfully_ broad.
Green
Flashbacks to the blue lipstick that first fateful party. Who knew it would get us here
Sean Kinlin
I'm surprised she's comfortable in a strapless dress. Maybe it has some boning in it? (insert joke about Bubbles providing the boning later)
Sean Kinlin
@Drazi: Now all I can think of is Maxwell Smart saying "Plastic lips!"
Gabriel Burns
Patreon only shows the middle panel until you expand it, and I was like why are Faye and Dora naked?
Ursus Ridens
And, folks, let's hear a unanimous "Hubba hubba!" for Faye's dress. I mean, dang, girl.
allanfranta
I'm thinking there is most likely a venue in Vegas that would do it for you. You may have to provide your own non-spouse, but them's the breaks.
Daniel S
Faye’s being smart (a rare sentence). Never make that decision at a wedding, your brain is different there
Daniel S
The face meeeeeats
Thomas Halpin
*Cracks Knuckles* Dearly Beloved, bless this union, don't make me have to raise my voice.
djellafine
Case in point - in panel 2 Dora and Faye wouldn't look as if they were sitting in a hot tub if they had some kind of necklaces on
djellafine
I find it sort of odd that no one is wearing jewelry to complement the strapless tops. It does help with the semi-nudity vibe of all that skin imo
Adam with two As, a D, and an M
Is Faye's scar missing? I feel like that dress would reveal it.
Drazi
How lewd!
Drazi
I, on the other hand, have videotaped enough weddings that I will be very happy is I never see another one.
Adam with two As, a D, and an M
Bubs has learned sarcasm!
DonnieRamesJio
That or Faye gave her facial myomer an good airbrushing before the wedding
William Cole
I am imagining you stepping out from the shadows and stealth-marrying gay couples. "No one is safe from…the Marriage Ninja — Wednesdays on ABC!"
Drazi
I'm probably loosing it, but I think Bubble's lips are fancier then usual. Did she break out the good ones for the occasion?
Charles Hirst
On the brass plates of notaries in the UK it can say "Commissioner of Oaths". So if you need a new swearword you could always commission one.
Drazi
Isn't that really why most of us got registered? At least, on that list ..
William Cole
Bring me a fainting couch and a tumbler of gin!

Now I'm wondering about the laws on human/AI marriage.

Poor Bubbles, thwarted by her love interest's lack of interest.

I was just at a wedding a few months ago and like half the dresses were strapless, I figured it was just The Fashion

@Ashbury Haight, how do you feel about acting in a play?
Munchkin Threats
Faye is starting to give Bubbles a sense of sarcasm. XD

I like that Bubbles went with a dress that is her version of a "naked dress." Looks fantastic

Why not marry them and marry them?
Armcannon Productions
Everyone is so darn cute.

I am also a registered minister. I became one for the sole purposes of marrying gay people. Not ME marrying gay people but marrying them to each other. I mean, the ones that want to be married to each other. I'm not like tracking down random gay people and marrying them to each other by force.

The powers of a public notary are limitless. Do not underestimate the power of public notar-iety

Indeed! Fan service of the highest caliber right here. Thank you, sir; I’ll have another!
Captain Button
Surely with her her height and reflexes she can grab the bride's bouquet(s).

Is strapless dresses a wedding theme? Dora, the bridesmaids, Hannelore, Faye. Or is it just trendy in-universe?
Grace Kieser
I'm sure she has some chromed parts!
Shawn K. Younkin
Mahhhh wife! She is... MAH WIFE!

You know you have to show that cute pic now... Please!

Davin Coulston
The little ringsss...yessss.
Benjamin Geiger
Would it be offensive to tell an AI she'll ride eternal, shiny and chrome?
Elf Sternberg
She lives with Pintsize and Faye. She has excellent role models in that department.
Benjamin Geiger
Y'know, I'm in a similar situation. I don't know if I qualify as aromantic (I'm either aromantic or polyamorous or both, it's a _long_ story) but I do know that I'm an absolute sucker for ceremony and ritual, and a wedding is the biggest, most elaborate ceremony most people will ever participate in, let alone be in charge of. I would give vital parts of my anatomy to experience that, but I don't think I'd ever be in a position to commit to one person to that extent.
Brittany Huckey
AWWWWWW Bubbles has learned and grown so much, since we met her. The cutest. Well, after the married couple reveling in dropping the WIFE TITLE
Katie Spina
Bubbles & Faye are precious!
Ashbury Haight
I don't drink and I live in Appalachia, so hopefully I'm safe from those 🤞 you never know though
Bill Silvia
This thought process often leads to drunken non-fake weddings in Vegas.
Peter McDevitt
please no "Borat" jokes...
Sean Kinlin
If Bubbles goes to a notary, she'll need someone to witness her.
Captain Button
In the US I always hear it as "notary public." Don't know about elsewhere. ObOtherComic: "Lance Parkertip, Noted Notary Public!" by the immoral, err, immortal Don Martin.
SilverbackRon
Tai and Dora in panel three is just the best!
Adam Abbott
I'm not mad at it. XD
Larry
I didn't take Bubs to be the dramatic type. So cute!
Ashbury Haight
Yeah, I'm mostly kidding. I do not have the money for a whole fake wedding ceremony lol
Violet Moon
I like how panel 2 makes it look like Faye and Dora are naked
Diane
The world is full of possibility, there's gotta be a way!
Sean Kinlin
Tai in panel 2 having a Dora-gasm.
Mr. Ifrit
It can be but here in the US, I've always seen it as notary public.
Jaron Mortimer
You can do what you want as long as you pay for it. No one is stopping you.
Danielle Church
I mean when my wife and I got married, we just said "Wife! Wife!" to each other a lot, until our friend drew an adorable photo of us as cute yappy dogs going "Wife!" instead of "Woof!"
Ashbury Haight
This is making me want to get married even though I'm aromantic and have never wanted a spouse. Do they do wedding ceremonies without the actual marriage? Could I wear a bridal gown and kiss someone but never do any actual vows?
Daryl Sawyer
I love these dorks so much.
Chelsea
This comic is just so excellent. I laughed and smiled at every bit of this. Way to keep crushing it, Jeph
Andrea Andrew
Love the hairstyles, Fayebbles.
Sean Kinlin
With little hatsssss...
Graydon Armstrong
Panel 2 is deceptively framed. Thought maybe Dora and Faye had used the previously mentioned hookup room.
