While I doubt that is the case here, it might be that Willow has a painful history of thinking people are interested in her and finding out she was wrong. So she swings to the opposite extreme and assumes she's wrong about it this time also, when she isn't.

The overlap is real. In some ways, I think it’s because I’m ADHD, like significantly ADHD, and Brun gives me insight into me coping, and Willow kind of gives me a look at me coping in a different way. I just find both characters really insightful. Either that or it’s the eyebrows.

I suspect not at all. Personally, I think she probably interprets all signs of affection as platonic, because she herself is very platonically affectionate. She has shown signs in the past of being unaware of what most people would consider flirting. To me, all signs are pointing to aromantic.
