What do I do with the money???
🕑 Added 2025-04-28 16:54:22 +0000 UTCHi everyone! The support on here since the last update has been incredible. I really really appreciate that you all are willing to throw money at me for this silly game.
That being said, I've said in the past that due to the use of AI on the art that I don't want to profit from it myself. So, for that reason I've been spending the money I've made off of your pledges on as many commissions as I can manage!
The thing is that commissioning people can be time consuming! Finding artists with open slots, coming up with a concept and then waiting for it to be finished can be a process. I still want to always continue doing this, but I can't keep up with the money coming in!
This is a great problem to have. Please don't take this as me complaining. I am going to continue commissioning artists in the space and posting that art for everyone! That being said, I have a few ideas of what I can do with the excess money going forward and I'd like your opinion!
Let me explain some of these options in depth:
1. Save to eventually pay an artist for work on a NEW game:
Deight Class is becoming somewhat unwieldy. I didn't plan for the depth that the game has, so it's getting a little bit difficult to write and code around some of the things. I have a concept of where I want the game to be and that will take me a while, but I'd love to eventually move onto another project. For the new project I'd love to not use any AI. I have no clue who this artist would be, but if I had a good chunk of cash saved, I could get into conversations with some artists about longer term work.
2. Spread the wealth
The concept of commissioning artists in the space was to offset the potential damage that my AI art is doing in the space. I'm struggling to keep up with this, so I could basically overpay, or even donate to artists, content creators, etc. in the space.
3. Feed somebody?
Sort of spitballing here, but maybe there's a less popular feedee out there who needs some regular support and we as a community could come together to help them. We could suggest some people, vote on it, and start sending them money for food.
4. Other
Got any other ideas? There's obviously a chunk of things I couldn't do, IE. commission a private video from a content creator and share it, bribe government officials, fund the research into a new experimental weight gain drug... Let me know what you think!

My issue with this is that I'm pretty partial to my story. I would have trouble passing any of the reigns over to somebody else. Although I could write some backstory short-stories for the main cast for fun if that's something people are interested in.

I think you should commission stories and/or comics from artists to add to lore of the cast of characters. That would help expand the lore and the main game could make some of these side-stories 'canon' over time. Overall it would really help build the world, and you could do less coordination day-to-day if you give an artist a bigger chunk of money to do a comic over several months versus one-off illustrations.
