I did not get the baby- am I cursed

I didn’t even know it was Mardi Gras and felt pretty unaffected by the whole thing. I was about to leave, but then the someone said ,“ If you get the baby it is good luck for a year.” Well now I felt like If I leave I am giving up my opportunity to have good luck for a year. I took the first piece. There was no baby in it. WTF! Does this mean I am cursed? I wish I never knew I wasn’t going to have good luck! Do you guys think the king bake baby is actually a prophetic oracle or is this all just for fun?

I made king cakes for my college students and they loved it (I teach at small college in Nebraska so they have no idea what king cakes are) I had to do dried beans instead of babies though and I did tell them they have to bring the cake next year if they get so that’s what I associate getting the baby with

Didn't know Mardi gras had their own version of this, in mexican culture you just have to cook tamales or any dish for everyone if you get the baby
