a. It's closer to hyperlanes than not. b. Somewhat close to scale, though not perfect. More like a subway map than a real one. Datsot is closer to Malgeiru but it is one of the systems nearer to the Sol region of the Malgeir Federation.

(a) Do the vertices between stars represent FTL hyperlanes, or is this just a map of common transit routes? (b) Is this to scale? Is Datsot halfway between Malgeiru and Sol?
