IMO, that was answered during Golden Hour and Ice Block. It was David at his most serious telling Paulo he loves him. David is lighthearted and not jealous, as far as we know, so I think he just feels happy when Paulo's happy.

I want to see David grow as a character! I want to know what's going on in that possibilly empty head of his. He talks to Paulo like that, but does he feel anything past plutonic love? How does he really feel?!

Small detail but I find it sweet that Paulo was against the idea of spying on Mike and James and ruining their hypothetical date. If this was volume 1-4 (and maybe 5) Paulo, he would be jumping at the chance to embarrass Mike during such a special occasion. Again it's very trivial but I see this as another reminder that Paulo HAS matured significantly over the duration of the comic.

I have been wondering how Paulo's dealing with David having a "crush" on him. I like this. I don't especially like David but I do want to see his possible polyamorous nature more explored and this...this is nice.
