I didn't even notice that until you pointed it out. I was too busy being like "omg they're friends again wow this is so nostalgic!" And not only did she hit him in the face but it was hard enough to make him go "Guh" and hold his face afterward. I wonder how this friendship would've affected him in the long term? Not that his relationship with Sandy is any healthier. Dude's trying to pick between emotional support with punches or being ghosted and cheated on.

I know a lot of people wish this was canon, but as sweet as this alternative universe chapter was, I‘m really kinda glad this is not how it actually played out - for various reasons. I do want them to reconcile and be friends again (if this is ever going to be possible again), but as grown persons. If they‘d just returned to their old shenanigans like that, sexual tension and lingering feelings and all, I can‘t help but think this would‘ve led to them just repeating their vicious circle all over again. …. man if only those dumb teenagers wouldn‘t have kissed that night, goddammit

Damn... this was actually really satisfying. They actually talked thru some stuff and acknowledged that there's still work to be done after AND agreed that they both shouldn't date atm. 🥲 Though, one would wonder if they'd fall back into their old dynamic or be cautious about that and improve things.
