I think it's less that they will never find a point where they can potentially get back on neutral ground, and more that the actual events in main comic are going to get a lot more dramatic and reach an actual breaking point before things have the chance to get better. None of this healthy sitting down and talking things out, more bottling things up until the worst possible moment to let it all out... or until the bottle shatters. Just my suspicions though, we'll just have to wait and see whether or not that winds up being the case.

Glad he said that he really just wanted to be able to talk and apologize and wasn't expecting more. I really think Lucy needed to hear that. It's like she'd been stuck thinking that she had to be a rebound or that he had to have feelings for her for her to be of any worth to him.
