It really shows that for all their issues, Lucy gave him a lot of time, attention and companionship during the long stretches between letters back in the day. She kept him busy and engaged in the day to day. But without her, he has slowly isolated himself from everyone and it really shows that Sandy has always been somewhat emotionally unavailable. It's funny that even though he blamed Lucy for a lot, she was the crutch that let his long distance relationship work.

Paulo is literally the only friend that is willing to talk to Mike right now and at this point, after all the anger and passive aggressiveness he's been receiving I don't think he'll be that friend for long
