Intelligence =/= Value You don't need to be book smart to find a passion and get a career you're both good at and enjoy. Hell, it doesn't even need to be that prestigious to be valid; with how much Paulo actually seems to enjoy working fast food and how charming he is around customers and co-workers, I could easily see him being an amazing store manager, potentially even a district manager if he's ambitious enough. There's nothing wrong with settling for a job that you enjoy. That said, there is still value in exploring different fields as well. The future is unpredictable, and having more experience in different settings will not only help find new career paths should your current one fall through, but may even open up a new passion you want to start pursuing. As the saying goes; A jack of all trades, but a master of none, is is oftentimes better than a master of one.

Agree 100%. I hope a future arc (even this one) explores what Paulo's goals really are and then we'll see our boy really shine!

Paulo's potential doesn't have to be academically. College isn't for everyone and I don't think Paulo even has any goals in mind at all. Instead of just forcing her ideals on him, she should be asking what he really wants to do for himself in the future, and help him with that. Not automatically try to get him into college.

This poor boy thinks he is so incapable because he doesn’t do well academically. I really hope the gang helps him figure out some potential in a trade and going to trade school. Schools really fail children making it out like college is the only answer.
