Figure Drawing: Week 21

I’m hoping I don’t fight with the charcoal as much this time around, I TRIED TO SHARPEN ONE AND EVERYTHING. Maybe I should suck it up and use the charcoal pencils I have rather than use the sticks. I mean they’re there to be used!
So let’s start with the 1s!
Man does sharpening the charcoal really make a difference. I was drawing with the charcoal at a slight angle so it looked dull but I could also draw super pointy if I wanted to. Drawing on the side made it so it didn’t have a fully dull tip. These drawings flowed really quickly and I felt pretty confident!
Here are the 5s. Man do I love the way the first pose turned out, I didn’t really wanna mess with the light sketch in fear of messing it all up :( the lying on stomach pose was so good too aaaaaaa I LOVE PERSPECTIVE POSES
The 10s! I’m feeling much better about today than last week, for sure. I’m making sure to sharpen the charcoal quickly before every session :-[ some dull out quicker than others
SPEAKING OF PERSPECTIVE here’s the 20min pose lmaooooooo OH MAN I’m actually relieved it doesn’t look so bad! It’s so easy to make the legs look like shrunken baby legs in that angle, but I don’t think it turned out too bad!
2s and 5s! I kinda like the messiness of the lineart on the 5s, it looks so quick and confident :-[ REALLY BOLD
First of the 20s!! Added some bold lines here and there, I like the effect even though I’m remembering my short time at fine arts school that involved a teacher discouraging that, and I would discourage myself too :-[ IT’S NOT EVERYWHERE AT LEAST
We didn’t have that much time left for another 20min pose so the instructor said this would be a 10min one, which is fine!! It’s just so we don’t stay overtime and the session finishes at 9pm. It’s happened before, though usually it’s more like a 15min pose so it’s not even worth mentioning it. This pose was much shorter though BUT IT’S ALL GOOD
I felt really good after his session! I’ve drawn this model before too, she’s really great. I GUESS I LEARNED MY LESSON ABOUT SHARPENING CHARCOAL gosh why didn’t I think of that before! I’ve whined and whined for weeks and weeks and the solution was RIGHT THERE :-[ ALAS
